OK, once you do the obvious visual check to insure that no hoses or wires have fallen loose, the next step in diagnosing this kind of problem (reduced power) is a dry & then wet compression test; & if that shows a low cylinder do a cylinder leak-down test on the low cylinder. From that you can tell if it's rings or valves and which valve as well (usually.)

If just one cylinder doesn't make and hold compression, then all the fiddling with gaskets, sparkplugs, and coils is just wasted effort.

There's a possibility of oil starvation to the cams as well, & you might have scarred a cam lobe & lifter. If the compression & leakdown tests don't tell you anything, then pull the valve covers & look at the cam lobes.

I understand a loot of mechanics...
revd motor , it`s for me, accelerate the engine to the cutting... 7000rpm? or 6500rpm..., where the ECU cuts the ignition and fuel... and the Ignition Coils not like that...it`s not the ideal...

I not say the valves are not the problem, that can be .. but, I dont tink so.. I hope the owner answer what really happened after in this topic...

exactly Caddmannq +1 for that opinion

ignition coil looks good, where would it get damaged, at which point?

I cleaned the spark plugs, took it for a drive (20 miles), removed the spark plugs and they looked clean. So now I will check the compression , thanks for your input ;)

I had toyotas and hondas all my life, well designed motors imo, but think about it, it's 4 liter engine, very close tolerances, huge loads (at high rpm) so things can get damaged in a fraction of a second

This engine sounds different, vibrates, and top end power isnt the same when I downshift and accelerate. It could be nothing or it could be damaged piston ring....but I dont even wanna think about that now

One (in my mind) slim possibility is a damaged or partly clogged fuel injector. I say "slim" as I would normally suspect this right off, but not as a result of just revving up the engine. I really suspect that it's a case of oil starvation related mechanical damage.

makim...i hope and pray everything works out.

hope those valves didnt meet those pistons. please keep us posted. just cant rap my mind about some wire falling off, or coming loose because the motor was rev'd up in a driveway somewhere. rev limiters cant save a motor from momentum..physics is a bitch.

    again, please keep us posted.

the damage of the coil you can not see it .. is internal..
the outside may be new .. and inside to be burned/dameged..

You said you cleaned the plugs, drove it 20 miles, checked them and they're still clean. If you had a damaged ring you would know it. You would have smoke coming from the exhaust and it would run like crap, and most likely give you a check engine light.

Caddmann as much as I want you to be wrong, it's either that or crapy european gas-clogged injector

Caddman how can I check for bad injectors without any high tech tools?

pretty much everything here is diluted, Vodka, gas, mouthwash, deodorants ;) I miss US

Can someone explain how reving up an engine would clog an injector?

I'm on my iPhone so I'm not going to read this whole thread. I would talk with xrunnit. He knows more about high rpms on these motors then most.

If it will help your friend who is being accused of damaging your engine by revving it to 5500 for 3 seconds, I will video my truck revving to 6000 for 8 seconds, and prove that it doesn't damage anything. There's no way it damaged a coil pack, valve seal, ring, injector, etc... these e-diagnosis are just getting silly now. engineers put these engines through a series of hellish tests before they are blessed and put into production. Reving one for 3 seconds will not hurt it

If you actually have a problem with it, it wasn't causedby him. You should just take it to a shop and have it diagnosed properly.

I'd like to see the video for the hell of it..

I just try and fill it up with 91 octane and some gas treatment and drive 50 miles and see how its running then.

toyota uses chains which are 10x stronger, so I ruled out bent valves
it's not like you're not gonna notice that kind of impact

just to make it clear, the car runs ok, but it idles worse then before, feels like it lost about 20hp, no codes etc

when I accelerate beyond 3500rpm it feels and sounds like a civic, less torque, I dont know how to explain it any better

as far as maintenance: I changed oil, filter, checked and cleaned spark plugs, air filter, checked intake manifold......not sure what else I could do...
