I have been searching around for ideas of purchasing or also fabricating a roof rack for my cap. I have seen the guy on here TW custom install the fj cruiser rack on the cab roof of his tacoma, looks amazing by the way. But I would like to install it on my bed cap. I was planning to leave the longer upper bar of the fj to extend over and onto my cab but have a rubber platform bushing for it to sit on the cab not bolted to, just a thought.
Has anyone done it similar?? Will be purchasing the fj rack soo and see how it goes.

2013 dcsb with a leer 100xl cap by the way.

The biggest problem I see, is that the FJ's roof is not flat, so the mounting feet of the rack, will not sit flat on your cap.

You'll have to make adjustments for that.

Seen some 4 Runner rails that I liked. Never caught up to one while I had a tape to measure dimensions.

With the movement between the bed and cab I don't think having the front feet of the rack sit on the cab is a good idea, even if it has the rubber bushing that OP mentioned. Also, as mentioned above, the curved profile of the rack will probably not fit the truck and cap's profile, which might look odd.

Other than that it's not a bad idea; I have always like the looks of the FJ rack - just not sure if they are compatable with the Tacoma.

There are better racks out there that will fit better.

Yes I do know that. We have plenty of tools to cut and weld up..

Your words were in my head as well. Wil have to change those plans.

Thanks. I just like the factory black look of the fj rack. That is the main reason I am going for it

Agreed! That FJ rack isn't cheap either. I wish I had a reason for that Prinsu rack/s.
