what with all this HILUX talk? everyone distracted from the bad ass modification? what up with the install? was it hell?

i like it! alot. i love and miss grabbing a lever to go into 4by. finessing a transfer case into 4 low (w/ lever) is damn cool. means, "the junk is about to get hairy" in my life. turning a knob feels removed..gay-like. my last truck, i pushed an effen button!

Nice! Is the FJ case a straight swap or was there some fab work to get it to work? Would be really cool if you could tear the T case and shifter out of a totalled FJ and do a straight swap.

Thank you very much. The swap was pretty easy. About the hardest part was putting a new hole in the floor and making the shift handle. Running down what wires did what was just spending some time with the schematics of the FJ and the Taco.

You can swap it straight over but there is going to be some wiring stuff to work out and you'll have to modify the shifter, but others words it's just bolt on. I have all the solutions as far as the wiring is concerned and can help all those interested in figuring out how to modify the sifter handle to come up next to your auto shifter. I am even working on a twin stick application which will make this swap even sweeter.

I used one from an auto FJ. I haven't sen a manual FJ yet so I'm not sure what they have.

Ya know. There are a lot of people that like the Atlas. They even say it is indestructible. I don't like it, and have seen three of them blow up under Toyota's, two Tacoma's and an FJ Cruiser. I have yet to see a chain case blow up. I'm sure they are out there but I haven't seen it yet. Not to mention the fact that i didn't have to cut a hole in my floor as big as Texas to get the thing in. The Atlas is just not worth it to me.

Will the manual transmission in the Tacoma match up with the VF2A transfer case in the automatic FJ.

I'm just wondering if I would have to do a lot of work to get it to fit or would it be a nice and (relativity) simple bolt on application.
