Just poking around, we’ve recently pulled out an fj40 from the bushes, wondering if anybody has heard of/seen someone with an fj40 axle under a 1st gen taco, pic for attention

Fj40s have a narrow WMS compared to the tacomas, you would have to run some spacers, as well as upgrading the brakes/hubs to a more modern system. Even then depending on the year of the cruiser those birfields a very dated design. You would be spending lots more on that axle, just to update it to where other axles were offered with it from factory.
I would opt for looking for a newer model cruiser as a doner, or even a mini truck if you are looking to keep it toyota.

I think this will work to acquire the desired WMS. Full width, no problem.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
Too narrow not worth the hassle in my mind.

Love how helpful some people are when a truck that’s not how they’d do theirs pops up smh
