So unfortunately I won't be able to make it Saturday...:censored:

Got more "baby prep" errands that I'm pretty much not able to delay, or I'll be dealing with a very unhappy wife.

Well, I almost had to bail after Ford fucking up and over-torqing an engine oil drain plug on the GF's 2019 Ecosport. Just by the grace of the car gods, they didn't strip the aluminum oil pan threads and used a grade 5 M12x1.75 plug that stretched at the base of the shank...

So yeah I am not claiming it is the correct answer...I really was looking forward to making it up there to shoot the shit and have a great run up to the top.

Instead I'll be getting home this evening and will be moving 3 non-working generators and my "former" man cave couch onto the trailer to take up to the inlaws tomorrow morning, and will likely also be tasked with dinner duty...followed by putting together the crib, and helping with the sketching of the wife's cacti mural she designed. She's painting it tomorrow while I'm working on generator diagnostics/repairs. Gotta get one of them up and running ahead of winter ice storms...since it's nice to have running water and the fridge and freezer not thawing during a multi-day outage...or try and get a few working and sold so I can upgrade to a 10kW unit.

This whole pregnancy hormones only seem to rear their nastiness when I wanna have fun (hunting, trail rides, etc.!)...and not do chores all weekend!

Everyone's meeting up at 7:45 at the first stop, so we won't need to leave the area until 6:30 or so. How are you getting to 66? Is your taking 234 business we could meet at the 7-11 across from pepboys.

They stay in the glove box. Remind me when we meet up.

Also, @3pooches dont i owe you some IPA's? What brand would you prefer.

Usually 234 bypass. I'm right off it, but I can scoot an exit up and meet you there at the 7-11.

In preparation for the wheeling, I have been reading the history of the area from the 1600s to modern times. In the 1700s The land was ravaged by cutting down trees for farming, which resulted in erosion that is still a problem today for small streams. That resulted in congress authorizing the buying of land and lead to the formation of the Forest Service. The locals were so mad about that, that they set fires. That resulted in the fire lookouts on the knobs. There were many iron furnaces in the area that required mining for iron ore, limestone and trees for charcoal. The CCC completed many projects in the area. The chestnut blight took its toll. All these activities plus several acts of Congress have resulted in what we have today...the George Washington NF.
