Heading up next Tuesday for a week. 525 looks good, how about 618 East of I-17? I will wait a month or so to go to the Flagstaff area.

I am not as familiar with that road or area so I would check the forest service website to confirm if it is open or not.

And why wait to come to flagstaff other than forest closure? Not like you’re going to get cold at night in your fancy motorhome.

Hello to all in Flagstaff. I miss that place everyday. Lived there 97-01. Went to NAU. Back then I had an 94 2wd Toyota P/U and we'd dog the shit out of it on the forest service roads. Great times.

I will wait for the roads to open, hard to explore if they are closed. My favorite camping spot is Schnebly hill rd east of I-17, nice and quiet. My RV is not that fancy.

Schnebly Hill is a fun spot to camp, especially if you can find somehwere near the rim. I completely forgot about the closures the other week and ended up rolling on a closed gate. Whoops :anonymous:

I camped on fr 89b which is on the other side of fr525 on 89a. It is a dead end so less traffic. I love the trails and views in Sedona but there were people EVERYWHERE! The place was crawling. Next trip is Flagstaff, and I will day trip to Sedona of needed. thanks for the info!

Shouldn’t be too muddy on the trail. Most of the snow’s already melted and we haven’t had a heavy rain in a while

Heading to Flagstaff in May for the Overland Expo, anybody been to it before? Moreso just looking forward to wheeling and camping, with a bit of expo.

That being said, any place recommended to wheel for a 2wd prerunner?

Mt Elden Truck Trail is a good one for 2wd trucks. Honestly you could do it in a Camry but the views are stellar once you get to the top! I've taken my truck up there countless times when it was 2wd

There's also Schnebly Hill a little ways south of town. If you start at the top it'll drop you down into Sedona. It's entirely doable the other way, too

Thanks! Looking at Schultz pass, is that any good? Also looking to camp too, and figured that looks doable for camping as well.

Shultz pass and Schnebly hill will both have good camping spots, also look at Lockett meadow. It’s just a few miles north of Shultz but I think has better camping. All 3 spots will have great views and 2wd friendly.

Not to mention there’s countless forest roads outside of town where you can explore and just get out for a while

What about the terrain? Prefer to camp in the woods, I’m in the valley- so I want to get out of the flat land.

Schultz pass, elden lookout road, and locket meadow are all closed. I did the open part of schultz pass this weekend and it was torn to hell. I don’t think they’ve had a chance to repair them since the snow.

Well I won’t be out that way until May 17th. Any suggestions that’s a sure thing to plan for?

Thanks! I haven’t been camping up north in over ten years, it’s a crime it’s been that long. Most of my wheeling has been down around the valley.

Lots of rain and thunderstorms last night so expect some slippery conditions depending on when you arrive.
