Hello TW im looking to get some input from people who live in Flagstaff or have been to Flagstaff. My friend and I plan to hopefully visit sometime soon (as it by just very little hearsay and pictures) has become one our bigger options to live once we get out of the Marine Corps here soon so any input would be appreciated of the area and also NAU as a school

    Thanks!

I live up here in flagstaff. I came up from socal and I go to NAU. It's a very nice school and I like it up here a lot. I miss how easily accessible everything was in socal a little but you can always get stuff off the internet.

Yeah I'm in currently in SoCal but my option is to move back home to Reno, NV or AZ
    Couple of questions
    1. How's cost of living?
    2. How's finding a job there?
    3. Also how's gas up there?? Lol always need to check on that

I can't speak for the cost of living or the job situation, but Flagstaff consistently has the highest gas prices in Arizona.

I lived in three places up there. 2 apartments and 1 condo. The first apartment and condo were really nice. They weren't the upgraded units but were nice to live at. We practically stole the first apartment because they were doing a special on the single bedrooms. We were dealing with a new lady and she got mixed up and gave us that price of $800 before taxes and utilities. This was on the east side of flag(about 5 miles from campus). The condo was right next to campus and was about $1200 after everything. Both of those were 2b/2bath.
The second apartment was on the east side as well, but not as nice. That one was about $1000 I believe after everything.

Jobs honestly suck. I personally wouldn't/couldn't live up there. There's just not enough of a city for there to be any major jobs. The major jobs there are, are full. If you're just looking for a bs job while you're in school, don't expect a good pay. I was at the top of the list(from what everyone told me) at $10/hr.

Expect gas to be anywhere from 30-50 cents more than Phx. They're still probably at $3 or so while where I'm at is ~$2.65.

I have lived on the central coast of Cali my entire life-other than about 6 months I spent living in Flag in 2007.... It was awesome and I loved it. Great opportunity's for outdoor recreation, nice climate with seasons, and you are only a few hours from the hell hole called Phoenix if you need something from a big city. People were nice and the cost of living was way cheaper than where I live in Cali. My mom still lives in Flag so I am somewhat familiar with current prices, etc.

Where in Cali do you live? I'm stationed in 29 palms so I am familiar with a lot of southern California and I also have family here so trying to compare cost of living and jobs etc from here to flagstaff
Unless anyone from Nevada has lived there I would like to compare it more with Nevada as that's where I am from

I've lived in Flagstaff on and off since 1985. It's a great place to live, but there's a saying there, "poverty with a view". As far as Arizona goes it's one of the more, if not the most expensive place to live. There is plenty to do if you like the outdoors, hunting, hiking, biking, etc. The thing that's nice about the location is it's a short trip to, Phoenix or Vegas if you're dying for a big city trip.

Gas today, I paid $2.65 per gallon
Rent for my last place, a nice 3 bedroom 2 bath garage townhouse was $1400
Jobs are rough, but they're available if you have skills in need.

Most places to live like Flagstaff, Phoenix, Tucson, in Arizona have there good and bad points and a lot of people find the good out weighs the bad in Flagstaff.

My opinion, figure out where you want live and make it work.
