I used a 10 million candle power light at work- It's awesome to learn what that thing'll do to eyesight when you are night acclimated.
I've got about three Stinger Streamlights floating around the house...with a few 5 LED maglights (Nifty kit I found..)

Chris I've got two Surefire's...A G2 which stays in my truck always, and an E2 Defender which I carry. They are fantastic lights, tons of bright, but I'm unhappy about the burn time.....Only about an hour per set of batteries. There are conversions available but I just haven't gotten aroungds to it.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I've got a 3d maglite led and a mini-mag led. IMHO the mini maglite is better. Its batteries seem to last longer and the amount of light in comparison to size is much better. However....

The fenix lights trump all for the most part. Ive had surefires on my m4 and I've found they are extremely tough but overrated.

I have a 3D mag and a 2 AA mag, both with the LED kits. Not sure about distance, but they are brighter and last SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much longer! To give you an idea, I stopped using the 3D as it seemed like I needed to put new batteries every time I used it when I was a kid, and I hated scrounging around the house for 3 D-sized batteries since nothing else in the house took them. So it sat unused for maybe 10 years. Now with the LED kit it's been in my truck for 2, and it's the light I always reach for when I'm outside and the truck is near.

Oh, and I put new batteries in each light when I did the upgrade and haven't changed them again in 2 years. Guess that says something. May not be bright enough to stun a deer like a Surefire, but a fraction of the price and at least 100x the run time.

Got my 2AA kit online, but Nite Ize makes those so I was seeing them at Wal-Mart shortly there after. Mag makes kits for the D and C cell ones now. I've seen them at Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Even seen flash lights with the LEDs already included.

make sure you read up on what you buy for an led kit. Niteize if i checked has only 1 watt leds. The "maglite" brand leds are 3 watts which makes them substantially brighter. Yeah its probably more expensive but but its worth the price. My little mini mag led is much much brighter than my friends with the niteize 1 watt conversion. just my .02 ¢

www.flashlightreviews.com Lots of good information. I don't think its been updated in a long time but his basis of review serves for a good comparison among brands.

Well, according to that, Mag LED is rated 6 out of 50. Not bad for $20 or less, and most of the ones above are $100 or more.

If you find something you like on there, most likely you can find it for cheaper than what he posts. Like I said it serves as a good basis of judgement.

I'm just saying that because everyone jumps on Surefire, and I've seen prices of those go passed $200. Some of those people also say Mags are crap, surefire is the best... blah blah blah.
