I ordered a few flashlights from deal extreme. I've already forgotten what they were called, but I will report back when they arrive from Hong Kong.

hey Chris, I just ordered a few from Fenix.

Among the order were a few small ones and then I couldn't resist the TK11. I also ordered the 18650 battery and charger.

I got one of the deal extreme lights and they are nice, but I need something really good to compare them to. I still have another on backorder.

I think that I have an addiction.

+1. My wife doesn't understand why I need to have so many flashlights. "So I have one when I need one." I always tell her. Then I get the eye roll.

It's almost like my fascination with the razor knives that I keep buying everytime I go to the Depot. I buy 'em and buy 'em and buy 'em and damn if I can't find one when I need it. I probably have 50 somewhere in the house.

LOL, Your gonna love that light! I got a few of the protected 18650's, and also got an "orange" ring to replace the "tactical" grip near the rear. More comfortable to hold with it removed IMHO. :)

I just got that light. It is awesome. I showed it to my coworker and he accidentilly shot my eyes and I'm still seeing spots. My backyard raccoons aren't going to know what hit them. I'm running cr123 right now, but I've got some 18650s that I'll charge up this evening.

I bought a few other smaller lights that I'll get some comparison shots of. In my current arsenal: 2D LED Maglite, 3D LED Maglite, AA Deal Extreme, CR123 Deal Extreme, Fenix TK11, Lowe's 3 LED 3 AAA, Fenix L0D, Fenix P1D, and Fenix E01.

NICE! Im really happy with the TK11. At work today, a guy didnt belive the light was comming from that size of flashlight. Just so you know, The TK11 is only regulated with the CR123 batts. Not with the 18650's. The 18650's will still give more light for a longer time, but the output will diminish as the battery discharges. :)

I'm really liking the Fenix TK11 and the Surefire 6P LED. Both are the same price. I like the fact that the Fenix has a turbo mode, but like the fact that the 6P is brighter for longer (80 lum 11 hours for the 6P vs 60 lum 10 hours for the TK11)

Wish I could find a comparison of them.

Oh great, another flashlight I'm interested in. Stupid internet!

    http://www.eagletac.com/overview.html?7

    EagleTac T10L
    Output: 255 / 60 lumen
    Runtime: 2 / 13 hours (18650 battery)
    MSRP: $89

    Fenix TK11
    Output: 225 / 60 lumen
    Runtime: 2.7 / 12 hr (18650)
    1.5 / 10 hr (2x CR123a)
    MSRP: $78

    SureFire 6P LED
    Output: 80 lumen
    Runtime: 11 hours (2x CR123a)
    MSRP: $89

Chris, what exactly does regulated mean? On the T10L's specifications, it says

    · Two modes of output, selected by turning the bezel:
→ Turbo Mode: Constant 255 Lumens* regulates 2 hour to 50%
→ General Mode: Constant 60 Lumens* regulates 13 hours to 50%
Care to explain what that means?

Regulated means that the light will maintain max out put until the battery is depleted, or slowly dim, then it will rapidly go dim. Run times are calculated from max out put until 50% out put.
Another thing to look at is "throw" measued in "LUX @ 1 Meter". The T10L has slightly more lumens than the TK11, but the TK11 has much higher "LUX", so it will shine farther. Check out light reveiws.com. Also, lumes needs to be 4 times more to see a 2 times brighter light. I.e., a 200 lumen light will look twice as bright as a 50 lumen light, all things being equal.

I carry a aaa maglight on my person, and have a c maglight in the truck. But I have it in behind the second row seats and its difficult to get to, might have to look at the driver seat mod.

So does that mean the light could "surge" to a higher output when the batteries are fresh, but circuitry limits the power/draw to maintain a specified output for a specified period of time?

I love having mine on the side of the seat! So nice to be able to just reach down and grab it on the way out of the truck. :D

In the tests I have seen, No. Most often, the light is at 95% with "fresh" batteries, and as they are used, the regulation actually moves the power to the bulb up to near 99% or so. Sometimes this happens in 10 seconds, sometimes longer. Then, when the battery is almost dead, light output drops fast. My experiance in this field is VERY limited, so I could be off.

I found the T10L for about $65 online, and the TK11 is around $75 online. I'm not really interested in a long distance thrower, as I'd be using it mainly for outdoors stuff and don't need to see something 500-600 feet away, so the longer throw of the TK11 isn't really an advantage (to me) over the T10L. I do like the fact that the T10L is regulated with 18605s and the 60 lumen output (the output i'd be using the most) is an hour longer on the T10L. BUT, there's more aftermarket stuff for the TK11 vs the T10L since the T10L is brand new and the company is pretty damn new too I believe.

When did buying a flashlight get so complicated :(

Check out www.4sevens.com I tghink they carry most high end lights, and if you get a Fenix light, they give a lifetime warranty on them. I think they carry the T10L also. :)
