Flash to get apple carplay

First time ive heard of this. Does anyone know if this us true. Taken from a fb group

19 camrys have the update for CarPlay. But they’re entune 3.0. As far as I know no update exists for tacos. You can put a entune 3.0 headunit in yours though... but $$$

 

Ive been told only one jbl setup has the chipset installed capable of flash and it was produced after the 6 month of 2019, so rare but possible

 

No updated listed on TIS but I’ll check at work tomorrow on the managers account to see if he somehow has access to it

Updated. So its two model cars from 6 month of 2019. Tacoma and 4runner not on that list. Think it was the camry

No mention of Tacoma updates. BUT I did find info about 18 siennas and camrys that can get the phase 2 and 3 update. Maybe they used one of those

but those are entune 3.0 units

 

Looks like its a mirroring device. He said it required another harness and that it needed to be plugged in to work. Soooo gave hope to 1000s but at the end of the day, not just a simple flash. Brightside is, with a mirroring device you cam get carplay in the older headunits

 

Well, that was a big fail.

 

You can buy mirroring (still got to use the phone) or a device that gives you full touch screen capabilities but cost as much as a aftermarket HU.

 

He had touchscreen capability. Must be some new thing. He sent me the video but dam this site dont allow videos

 

Could be NV Connect.
