Today my 08 Tacoma dcsb done some crazy shit. The check engine light started flashing and its like it went into limp mode or something. It would barely go about half gas. Any ideas?

Yes, you f’d something up. Usually flashes when something urgent is going on. Means don’t drive any further, pull the hell over and call for a tow.

As far as i know, the CEL flashing means whatever it is, is causing damage to the cat. So go get them codes read before it cost you thousands in cats.

Cel flashes at you during a cylinder misfire situation to try and get your attention and stop driving the car. It does this to prevent unburned fuel from reaching the cats.

Manufacturer has to warranty the cats for 8/80. Flashing CEL during misfire is federally mandated on all North American vehicles

    There is no EGR Valve.

    Flashing CEL usually means misfires.

As @b_r_o stated the check engine light will only flash during an ACTIVE miss fire situation.

So you're dealing with either too much or too little fuel, too low of an octane fuel, loss of spark, or loss of compression.

First thing to do is pull the code stored and find out what it says and what cylinder(s) is affected.
