Disconnected battery for safety while removing an aftermarket amp that had main ground cut . Reconnected battery, now when the doors are open all dash lights, and parking lights flash, they do stop awhile after the door is closed. Start it up and the lights start flashing again, they will stop in a bit. Drive it and the lights flash intermittent but not as often. Everything seems to work as it should, lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, radio, engine, trans etc. Must be a short but where do I start looking??? 2015 Tacoma SR5 2.7 auto 2wd.

    All the dash lights flash?
Or just the turn signal lights?

This is an odd one, can’t say I’ve heard of anything like this.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

A lot of the 2.7 trucks didn’t come with an alarm.
What does your key fob look like?

This really sounds like an alarm system issue to me.
I remember someone having a similar issue with their horn.
It would blow anytime they inserted the key. This happened after they replaced the battery?
Turned out to be the alarm system (aftermarket)

You might have to look around inside the truck.
Sometimes there is a rest/bypass button.
Maybe look under/around the bottom dash.

You can try putting the key in the door and unlocking it, sometimes that will satisfy the alarm system, definitely sounds aftermarket.
Usually if you look at the wiring underneath the steering column you can find them pretty easily.

Did you try unlocking the door with the key like I said?
If it's indeed aftermarket you need to find the unit and identify it to get instructions on disarming it.

I have an aftermarket alarm. If I do something odd like lock the door with the key or door switch, then open with the alarm remote, it does weird things. Then if I undo whatever I did, open the door locks with the key, everything goes back to normal.

yes, locking & unlocking with the key doesn't help, every time a door is open things start flashing.

I’ll bet you have an aftermarket alarm, noise maker alarm flashing lights without ignition kill. Someone cut the wire to the noise maker, and had it set in valet mode. Disconnecting the battery somehow disengaged valet mode.

You’ll need to dig and find the alarm, find the brand name on it, find an alarm dealer that works on and sells that brand. If it’s a good one, it might be worth buying a remote for it, if the company didn’t go out of business.

Or really any car alarm place could probably remove it for you. Going in and cutting wires yourself could cause problems. So if you think about doing it, if it isn’t very obvious how to do it, you shouldn’t. A good installer would make it difficult to easily remove.
