I have 2 streamlight ultra stingers, 1 streamlight sl20 xp led, a fenix e20 and about 5 maglights. they all have pros and cons. the ultra stingers are very bright but only last about an hour. my led maglights are not as bright but last a whole lot longer. The fenix is my favorite. its small bright and has good battery life. But then again its hard to beat a led maglight

i have had both maglite & surefire, they are both good. surefire is too expense for me to buy the batteries, so i settled on pelican flashlights. cant believe noone has mentioned them yet.

Yep. They're hard to find around here in the stores... pretty much an online purchase item. I had one long ago but it grew legs at some point. I've just been too lazy to order another.

I have an old streamlight stinger. My dad gave it to me because he quit using it years ago. I love it.

I really like the Energizer Hard Case flashlights. Super durable as you can drop, step on, drive over and it will still hold. Comes with a lifetime warranty. Get the 3 LED flashlight. Small enough to prop up somewhere while you work on something. Still on the original batteris at this point also.

Can get one for under $20.

    Total +1 to this!

I picked mine up at Zellers. The 2xAA ones are about $15.00 each, and I also have one of the larger 2xDD that I got for $21, that has a swivel head so I can stand it on the ground and point it where I need to.

A Surefire is a poor center console light. You dont need tactical tail caps or max output from a center console light. I have owned a dozen Surefires including $500 Surefires and a Surefire is not what you need. Few have adequate low power options and the ones that do are too much money.

At work I carry a Streamlight Stinger DS HP, a Night Ops GLadius with modded LED and a Surefire X200. WHats in the glove box of my truck? A Fenix 2xAA.

My daughter was hanging out in the local bowling alley parking lot (yeah, I know) when the cops showed up about beer in the parking lot. Somehow one of the cops left a Surefire on her trunk lid. Has 2 odd sized lithium batteries in it. 3v I think. Nice little light but she killed the batteries in just 1 day playing with it. No way of knowing how old they were.

Oh yes the battery replacements are very expensive and I recommend you chk Best Buy for a replacement or even their web site then google it for price.

They are 123 cells and costs about 1.25-1.50 each online and 4-5.00 retail and most Surefires run an hour or so on a set, 2 at most.

Streamlight makes a 2AA light called the Jr LED. Surprisingly bright, runs for 3-4 hours on one set of batteries, you can use lithium AAs that don't leak in the glovebox of the car. About 35 bucks. The new maglight LEDs look good too, but pretty sure you're not supposed to use lithium batteries. I doubt anything would actually happen if you did, but havn't tried it, been too impressed with the streamlights.

ive got a 6p surefire, its a good light but Ive got 2 sets of batteries in a cycle, a fresh set I keep in it for emergencies to get the full 120 lumens, and a set im using for everything else which decreases in lumens ever second you use it.

oh and you don't have to buy those expensive $6 a piece 123A batteries this light takes 3 AAA's and has a longer burn time.

the picture shows a 2pack but it was recently changed to a 3 pack.
