Oops...I have another Outback light in the kitchen. Magnet base, White LED's on the side for a flood pattern, red LED's for strobe, and an 80 Lmn. output LED in the head.

I need to buy me a good flash light, chris4x4 how do you like the "big stick"? I would love to see that night throwing a beam a 1/4 mile. Most importantly how much and where did you purchase?

I'll see if I can get a video. I may have been exagerating the 1/4 throw, but it blows my other lights away. My Wife got it for me for Christmas. IIRC, It was about 45 bucks shipped. Here is more info on it. Although its rated at 120 lmn., it out throws my 240 lmn. Fenix. Its also built much better than my mag-light.

Ok...Vid will be up shortly. The vid sucks, but you'll get the idea. I said 250 feet in the vid, but after I took it, I shot it with my range finder, and its just over 300 feet. The camera was zoomed all the way out to catch the beam of the mag light.

Ok...That video sucks. You cant see the mag-light at all. You can in the vid on my comp, but not the uploaded one for some reason..

For the last 3 years I have had a flashlight on my belt right beside my leatherman supertool. For the most part it has been a snap-on 5 led flashlight. While it is ok, I am on my second flashlight and this one has 2 led bulbs not working again. If you were to buy just one flashlight to be on your hip for many years to come, what would it be? I was looking at a surefire. Also had the AA maglite on my hip for awhile when my snap-on one was out of battery ($25 bucks up here for the 123 lithium) and it seemed to do the job ok.

Should I stop looking at the surefire and buy one? Belt holsters are an extra 15 or so bucks.

If I had to choose 1 light, it would be my Fenix TK11. Much more light than a Surefire, and runs on 18650 cells, as well as the 123's

All the Maglites have Terralux LED conversions in them except for the black 2AA miniMag. That one is a factory LED. If you're thinking of going that route, let me save you the hassle. Buy a Streamlight product in whatever size you want. It will kick the equivalent Maglite's ass!

The back row is basically my experiments before I figured out what worked. They are pretty much toys.

Front row is all Streamlights: 1. Strion LED 160 lumens on high, 80 on med, 40 on low. My "running at night" light. 2. PT2AA 120 lumens on high, 16 lumens on low. My "camping light" for when I can't charge the Strion. 3. Jr LED 85 lumens. My "tool box" light. Perfect for working on the truck, under a sink, etc. Nice broad beam. 4. Stylus Pro. 24 lumens. My old penlight for work. 5. Stylus Pro C4. 48 lumens. Updated version. My new work penlight. 6. Microstream. 16 lumens. My old edc light. Single AAA, fits in a jeans pocket, don't notice it's there unless needed. 7. Microstream C4. 28 lumens. Updated version, my current edc light.

If I was to choose only one and I was going to carry it in a belt holster, it would be the Streamlight Jr C4. 85 lumens, normal AA batteries, about the size of a mini Maglight 2AA. I bought mine about three years ago for $30 with a normal Maglite style holster. It lasted for two years of constant, daily use. I probably dropped it 100 times from waist height onto tile floors. I then UPSed it to Streamlight and they rebuilt it under lifetime warranty. The only thing original to it is the battery tube. They paid return shipping. So for $6 I got a basically brand new light one year ago. It's still working perfect.

So I just blinded the shit out of myself with the Fenix Tk11... amazingly powerful light for its size... too bad the bezel wasn't tightened down all the way and I tightened it down inadvertently trying to figure out what was wrong.

Too lazy to go outside and take pics, but this thing lights up a room like no other. Point it at the wall and a good 15 feet in every direction gets a good amount of light.

Doing the same with my 2d led maglite only puts the light on the wall. The area of light it puts on the wall is similar between the maglite and the tk11.

Either way, I am impressed, and will be using the tk11 for every day use.

Lumapower Incendio V3 is the best EDC flashlight currently available in my opinion. I actually have a flashlight "problem", really bad. I have many thousands of dollars worth of flashlights, the Incendio finally helped give my credit card a break!

Been trying to find an awesome flashlight that will easily fit in the center console or put in a jacket pocket, so I'll be watching this thread. I go camping, night fishing, exploring, just trudging through the woods, etc. all the time. Also I have to make my way across uneven ground in the dark at work.

So far I've been surprised at this little Mossy Oak flashlight. I was out camping and I can't remember if I broke, lost, or forgot my flashlight. Bought this at one of those beer-bait-n'-ammo country stores for $6 and given what I paid it's really a good light. Nothing fancy, just 9 LEDs.
