Yes, that's what it's for. Strictly for emergencies. It would be particularly useful if the truck was partially underwater and you needed to get out quick. I think most of them have a seat belt cutter too; mine does.

I believe they make a small one also, a little larger that a pen.
Their use to be a knife that had a set up, to break windows and cut the belts. It has been some time since I have seen it.

I tried to mount the flash light holder, but broke the tabs off, does anyone know if they come in metal, ones I had were plastic.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
My pops used hose clamps and they work fine.

I'd use a Surefire LED, with the crenelated bezel.

In the tactical world, they use the light as a weapons light, or in conjunction with a weapon.

The light is all Type III hard anodized, and has and LED, so the bulb cannot be broken as a standard incandescent, Xenon, or Halogen.

Also, they are usually shock isolated. The CR123 batteries last up to 10 years, sitting in the light.

The light is only a few inches long and the crenelated part of teh bezel is used for defensive strikes. Also can be used to shatter glass.

    Just an idea.

There are tail caps for maglites made for breaking glass. Kind of steep at $25.00, but its there if you need it.
