I couldn't wait to replace those crappy "Kevlar". Highway tires, Toyota decided to put on an Off-Road vehicle..

    Love the 265/75/16 Duratracs.

The hitch goes outboard to the frame ends on either side. It might be getting to those.

That's why I drag around a 3 ton floor jack in my toolbox, hi lifts can be a little too sketchy with a wheel off.

You talking about the 95 getting slick? Or...?

Seriously hate the 95. More because people don’t know how to pass and I got ran off the road about a month ago. Luckily I didn’t roll the truck.

OP, since you like to get out and use your truck I recommend getting quality tires that are up to the roads you plan on travelling. The stock tires are fine for street use but I would never trust them for trail use. Just skip the crap and get a nice high end set of tires and feel good about it. This is your opportunity to upgrade! My vote is cooper st maxx for a great all around tough nice riding tire!

Don't those floor jacks need a concrete pad to sit (roll) on? I bough a 4 ton hydrolic jack for less than $20 and it is compact enough to fit beside the OEM jack in the under the seat compartment.

It works on asphalt and dirt, any solid surface.

How high does your jack extend up?

Crappy 2 ply sidewalls. Get a 3 ply sidewall tire if you want to venture off-road.

Not necessarily. Although I usually have a set of 2x4s or a plywood pad to give a solid base. Guess what I forgot one time?

Lol 1 more ply isn’t going to make much more of a difference. If whatever sliced it opened went through the tread and 2 plus it would of probably went through another. Also Op said it wasn’t on the sidewall, so it end up going through atleast 3 plys.

I don't know off hand how much the hydraulic jack extends. Now that I am thinking about it I have realized that I am storing the jack on its side and since sometimes these things leak, I may reposition it or at the very least I am going to put the jack in a plastic bag.

This is a good point, earlier I suggest the cooper st maxx because they are robust tires and can help in preventing this, especially when compared to the stock junk. however.... i sliced a cooper st maxx through the tread when i ran over steel cuttings under a newly installed power line system... that said i still stand by my statement of getting tires suited to trails for all of the usual hazards, there is no reason to have a 40k truck with garbage tires.

That tire looks close to a run flat. I wouldn't trust it. Sure wouldn't trust a one inch cut even if it is in crown of tire.

Turn to vaseline? Does that mean you were on a salt flat?
