First off thanks everyone for the help with my not-so-flatbed bed replacement project. I built a micro camper for my 08 and used a ton of info from this thread so I thought I'd share what worked and didn't.
    Here's what I built:

For my lights, I've run almost everything through the factory 7 pin trailer connector so the brake lights and turn signals would be integrated and I wouldn't have to add a separate housing. The only exception is that I recently ran a third brake light straight from the brake light housing so it wouldn't blink with the turn signal but that wont apply to most flatbed folks.

I've since moved the fuel filler location higher and toward the cab. Having it lower than the stock location worked for the better part of a year then became temperamental and started spilling. I ended up cutting the filler neck off with the factory lines in place then adding the 3 corresponding hoses between the cut pieces to extend the filler to the new location.

Interested but probably not in the budget, would like to see it if you're ever down in the Columbia County neck of the woods!

Do you happen to know how much higher the flatbed is above the stock beds height?

Any chance you know how much higher the mits flatbed is compared to the stock bed?

I used a Double Diamond Fab kit that I modified to keep the clearance of my previous setup. As of now, it is far lighter than when I had the bed+bumper+canopy+swingout.

Looking great and I have been eyeing up their kit as a replacement to my swiss cheese of a bed.

What did you end up modifying and ~ how much do you think the flatbed weighs?

Also, what brand are those boxes? Going to build a similar setup and have my ripcord esq topper sit on top of them.

    1) I trimmed the tail section waaaayyy down so it doesn't get hung up on stuff. Maybe 8" inches or so.

    2) Maybe 80lbs more than the stock shortbed. Me and another guy lifted it into place without a problem. Now I don't need a separate beefy bumper so that saves a lot of weight.

    3) Those are Buyers Pro aluminum boxes. They are pretty tough to break into. I had a ripcord style canopy but Seattle's homeless took it as a challenge. Someone would trash it every couple of months trying to break in. Unless I was on a trip, I only kept an emergency kit and a spare tire so there was nothing to steal. Still super annoying, though. Since the canopy was shiny I could see anytime someone would check the locks (in the dust or finger smudges) just to see if it was open- which was at least once a week.

Just starting my flatbed build. For those that build in aluminum. How thick of wall did you run? I'm thinking. 25 for my mounting and .125 for basically the bed. Built off 2x2 tube.
Just pulled my bed and started my hitch/recovery points.

This was what I was runningIMG_20230404_091646_566.jpg

This is what I am looking to built

And where I am now lol

    IMG_20230512_134327_017.jpg IMG_20230512_134327_054.jpg

I am hoping this will weigh less and be removable on certain camping trips (dunes ect ) .

I debated doing this as they are local.. looked like a nice kit, just wouldn't work for what I was after

Where did you get that shortbed frame? I have been looking and only have a long bed one to play with.

It’s a 2015 access cab frame (90% sure) but i 3d scanned my DCSB bed and the bed mount bolts line up almost perfect to 4 of the 6 bed mounting locations on the frame model.
My best guess is that the frame is the same on the access cab and DCSB but there is an addition bracket for the front 2 bed mounts.

The rear 4 bed bolts have an axis through them. The extra bracket for the front two bed bolts on the access cab are circled in red (section analysis view)
