    Not if the leaf pack doesn't allow for it. Sure you can get more travel if you let the pack go negative arch and fuck it into early retirement.
    Shackles are supposed to be used for one thing....and it's not to add travel or lift. Leafs change in lateral length, shorter at droop and longer towards bump. The sole responsibility of a shackle is to accommodate the change in lateral length. If you're using them for anything else, it's a band-aid and isn't going to help you one bit and will beget other problems.
    Aside from that, leaf springs are not just springs they are also what locates the axle, side to side and front to back. While driving, accelerating, braking, turning or articulating the rear axle wants to flop all over the fucking place. The only thing stopping that is the spring. Now think of the spring as a giant lever magnifying all that force into the hanger. Travel isn't the problem (the shackle pivoting soaks that up) its the side load and twisting action that the shackle and pivot get subjected to that starts breaking parts. Longer shackles only magnify it.

    So is that kind of a strategy? All of you guys hit it at the same angle kind of turning into the ramp so you are almost sideways on it. Kind of how the car is on it. Is that just to help keep from rolling as you get higher up it basically?

    you hit it as straight on as possible. only reason to hit it at an angle is if you have enough articulation that a straight on shot would have your rear tire climbing on it before you max out. you're only going to flip if you go up way too far and 3-wheel it. the car is liek that because he turned into it last minue when he saw us looking at him and pointing at the ramp lol.

    I see. Looking at those pics it doesn't look like hardly any of them hit it straight on though. None of them are as angled as the car but some appear to be angled though. Maybe it's more camera angle than anything. Haha

    probably a lot of camera angle. it was pretty tight with some of the other show vehicles parked near the ramp though, so i'm sure none of us were centered. luckily the angle at which you hit it won't throw off how far up you make it.

    Did you guys manage to squish your front bump pretty good before you started to lift a tire off the ground? I was wondering if being angled like that would help put more weight on that front tire on the ramp helping it stuff better since IFS doesn't like to stuff as well as solid axles do when crawling.

    i fully load my front bumps no problem. i sit low enough that it doesn't take nearly the same force to fully compress the front end. the guys sitting on 3'' of lift don't typically make it up as far because there isn't enough weight on the front end to utilize all of the front travel in a static situation.
