It sucks that the OP wrecked his truck...and great that he's ok except for some bumps/bruises etc...

    BUT

we should ALL let this serve as a reminder that regardless of the options on our trucks...inclement weather warrants slowing the hell down

Vehicles can hydroplane at something like 30 mph in like 1/16" of water

I dont know how many posts I've seen concerning people here complaining of other drivers slowing down or how they can continue to do the speed limit + with 4wd or traction control or mud terrain tires but the recent rash of truck wreck threads suggest otherwise...offroad tires dont add anything to wet pavement traction...and traction control and 4wd should not be counted on...

as the OP obviously shows...he thinks he was doing around 30-35...keep that in mind as the cold weather really sets in and creates more hazards on the road...Ice, rain and snow can really F up a commute but it's ALWAYS better to arrive at your destination safely than to end up dealing with a wreck...even if youre going to work and dont really want to be there

With the amount of members on here...and the number of wreck threads we're seeing lately...it's really only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed and I for 1 dont particularly want to lose a member to something that could so easily be prevented

It sucks to wreck your truck, especially right before the holidays. But to add to the post above this was a TRD sport presumably with the limited slip differential. If he was going 30-35 in second gear with a six speed that's going to be right around the peak of the torque curve. A limited slip with the sucky stock tires in the rain, around a slight corner, accelerating, in a vehicle with a solid rear axle. I'm not saying the OP can't drive but this is a recipe for disaster and he's certainly lucky he was the only one involved. Imagine if he crossed the thing up in front of a semi traveling along at 60?

Holy shit dude!! Glad you're OK... I hope you went to the doctor/hospital anyway to get checked out, just in case.

    Did the airbags go off?

THat's some scary shit right there. I can't imagine what was going thru your mind while that was happening.

FWIW . I never use 4wd in the rain , and it rains a ton where I live . I also don't advocate 4x4 in the rain , it's pretty pointless . I merely asked the question because of the all out brawl in the most recent " 4wd in the rain ? " thread .

    ^^^ totally agree here :)
