Arcan 3-1/2 ton under the diff or the center/front jack point, then these under the frame rails. No wood.

    Too few to list.
Wood is actually not as weak as people think.
I only use the wood to get the extra lift from the floor jack. Everything else is supported with jack stands.

Agreed, nothing against wood. The issue is the potential for improper use of a block or blocks and having them kick out under a side load in a worst case scenario. Done carefully, with the right sized block, works great. Eliminating a potential point of failure by using an appropriately sized jack is my personal preference.

Yeah, I'm not at ALL worried about the wood being the weak point. I'm more worried about having an additional slippage point.

And to the above person talking about putting the jack stands under the LCAs...yes, that works most of the time unless you're working on the LCAs lol. Which I am :(

I was working on my LCA's not too long ago. Mounting point I used was the frame but I have fabricated custom longer jacks to hold my truck up. A must for anything lifted.

I think that Aluminum Harbor Freight jack I posted a few posts up may be sufficient. I just checked and my current jack is only 14" high so that HF one would provide a little bit more than 5" of additional lift. That might be the ticket for me. Now to find a coupon... :D

Using a piece of 4x4 or 6x6 shouldn't really be an issue because nobody should be under a vehicle until it's supported by jack stands (or maybe a stack wheels and tires for a trail fix) anyhow. If it slips there is no harm or foul.

I do a fair amount of work with 'yotas in the air, look for a good wide floor jack with at least 20" of vertical lift (I use a 24") & don't go cheap...

With 3" of lift, I jack front off of aftermarket skidplate with a 4x4 block with HF 3ton jack, and rear just off of diff.

Well, let me retract the "Dont go cheap". My jack was/is a harbor freighter I bought from a local member for $60 but have seen that same jack for around a $100

    & has performed flawlessly..

Costco still carries the same brand but hybrid (steel/aluminum) now and still under $100.

The one at Costco has a max lift height of 18.6". Sucks, it's light and would be a great deal if it were high enough.

I have a small garage and I wanted a mobile jack for 4x4'ing so I have a bottle jack that has a carrying case that I leave in the back of my cab. I also have a hoist at work for 99% of my tasks haha.

I've basically narrowed it down to 4 jacks...

    -$189
    -Max lift of 19.25"
    -Weighs 55lbs
    -3 ton
Summary: Good weight, great price, lifts great, height is "ok".

    The Arcan
    -$219
    -Max lift of 24"
    -Weighs 104lbs
    -2 ton
Summary: Good price, heavy as shit, only 2 ton, highest lift of them all.

    The Summit Racing Jack
    -$240
    -Max lift of 20"
-Weight not listed but it's aluminum.
    -2 ton
Summary: A bit more pricey but good lift and decent weight. Only 2 ton though.

    Jegs Jack
    -$219
    -Max lift of 19.25"
    -Weighs 58lbs
    -3 ton
Summary: Average lift, reasonable price, and holds 3 tons. Specs the same as harbor freight but I'd expect it to be better quality (only reason why it's still on the list).

So in conclusion....the Arcan seems like a good option but it's heavy as shit. I mean, is it REALLY over 100lbs? I suppose if it's rolling around that's not the end of the world. 24" of lift would be killer. So the real question is this....is 2 ton enough?
