Should be, as long as you don't try to center the jack and lift the entire vehicle. ;)

    Too few to list.
I got my Costco Arcan 2.5 ton jack for $60. Can't complain. That's where the 4x4 block of wood comes in handy for extra lift.

I think, at least for me, the Arcan won't work. I would love having the extra bit of lift but at nearly double the weight it's just not feasable. The jack will serve double duty for me and will likely be put into the car at some point or another for days at the race track (changing to track wheels/tires). I can't imagine lugging the 100lb Arcan around.

Something I'd recommend is picking up some hydraulic jack oil. Some people complained about the HF jack not holding anything up after a few months. The day I bought mine, I topped of the oil (it needed a bunch) and then bled the system. Took all of 5 minutes and the jack works flawlessly.

It is really 100lbs but that helps keep things strong and sturdy. I've had zero issues with the weight and don't notice it at all compared to my other jacks.

I highly recommend going with the XL35 flavor, as it's cheaper. You lose a few inches but gain the extra lift capacity. You can grab the XL35 specific Arcan model in store at Northern Tools and stack a coupon to get it even cheaper than $189. The XL2T is online only. That same model is also used by Costco and a few others.

Good to know. Cheaper, holds more weight, and lifts about 21.5"....that's compelling. Still super freaking heavy though. Does Northern Tool have coupons often?

They do - http://www.retailmenot.com/view/northerntool.com or just google for some. They use a six digit code, I believe. The cashier will just take it from you off your phone. They don't discriminate.

I bought mine on sale so total was $120, I believe, after coupon.

That's the one I use, low profile. Works amazing.

Just pick a jack and use a 4x4 to add the extra lift you need. Having a lifted truck you kinda screw yourself. My .02

Harbor Freight one might not be enough. I have HF steel one with the same lift height and I still need to use a block to get the tire off the ground

Just to give people some closure....I ended up with the Jegs aluminum jack. Light, good lifting height, and 3 ton lifting capacity were enough to get me to pull the trigger. I plan on following up once I've got some time under the truck with the new jack (which should be soon).

Just keep throwin' money at it.
A good read on jack stands by the way from our fellow Toyota Land Cruiser brothers: http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-bitch-tried-to-kill-me.305105/ http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/harbor-freight-jack-stands-safety-warning.307482/ After reading those I went with the Torin 6-Ton Stands with the locks. Overkill for my FJ40, but they were great on the FJ60/Tacoma.

As for the Jack, I went with the Costco Arcan as well. It has been very solid for lifting rigs over the years. The trick on the Tacoma's I found was using the front cross member (on my 1999 at least) and the rear axle on the backside.

I bet that Jegs jack comes out of the same factory as the Harbor Freight.

Seems like Costco stopped carrying the Arcan, as I've only seen the aluminum low-profile jack in the store lately. My Arcan has been great for years.

I don't doubt it. I wouldn't buy anything with more than 5 moving parts or a motor there, but Harbor Freight is a great place for high-lift jack stands.

PS - in case it hasn't been said enough ... never crawl under your truck unless it's on jack stands! My dad lost a good friend who was betrayed by his trusty jack during a "quick" repair.

Unfortunately they did discontinue the XL35R / XL325R and now only offer that hybrid steel/alum. one. Glad I got mine when I could. :D

As stated earlier, I ended up with the Jegs jack.

Very happy with it thus far. Good lift capability and it gets much higher than my old one. For such a beefy jack it is actually pretty light. Lifts the truck like it's nothing. I've already used it 3 different times (LCA cam bolts, rear leaf bushings, adjusting coils) and I'm still loving it.
