Under the engine, there is a bump down in the center of the crossmember, behind the skidplate... that is always a good lift point for raising the entire front end.

I bought a Big Red Jacks "truck and SUV" 3 ton jack from pep boys a couple months ago. It was 70 bucks and has enough lift to lift my tires off the ground (even with 3" lift and 33"s) and hasn't had any problems yet.

I'm using a Harbor Freight 3ton. You can usually find a coupon hanging out in the back of magazines. Definitely worth the money.

It depends. How high is your lift?

I've gone through a dozen "2 ton" floor jacks over the years. They all seem to leak, once or twice they would leak pressure faster than I could jack. I bought a HF 3 ton floor jack, so far it's worked very well. Except the bolt holding the handle in place keeps working loose.

Between Harbor Freight and Craftsman, go with the HF Jack. I have 2 Craftsman Jacks that failed. Though replaced under warranty, it is a PITA

I did get an Arcan Steel Hydraulic Jack years ago at Costco. They no longer sell those there but its been the best. I have two and both are in perfect working condition.

Scooped up a HF 3 ton jack. Sadly it was the heavy one not the race version. But it was also on sale $75 bucks off. Got it for 89. Had to grab it. With 2 6ton jacks. Thanks for the help fellas

No experience with the HF jacks, but I might look into them now. The Craftsman aluminum at work leaks oil like a sieve and is only 5 years old. Currently have a 3 ton Kobalt steel that works great, but is getting harder to move around the shop with my uncooperative lower back.

I own a Craftsman Floor jack. We've had it for probably 15 years .....and it's been perfect. They probably don't make them like that anymore..... a damn shame.

I also own a Harbor Freight alluminum / blue racing (??) jack. This is our 2nd one. The first one failed the first time we used it. Popped a seal or something. Took it back and we currently have the replacement. I don't trust it..... I never use that one for anything that's critical. It's more for 'support'.

Harbor Freight Jackstands are awesome..... Just be very careful with their hydraulic jacks.

I recommend 3 ton jack minimum. Just picked up a 3 ton low pro jack for $94 at HF. The low profile jack lifts an inch and a half higher than the standard 3 ton. The reason I recommend 3 ton is because Fabio's 5000lb truck did this to my craftsman 2.5 ton jack lifting from his pumpkin.

Also I easily recommend having the 6 ton jack stands for the extra lift height especially with lifted trucks. When doing rear suspensions it's nice running 2 6 ton's to hold the truck up and my smaller craftsman jacks to hold the axle.

    6 tons at work:

Tested the low pro jack this weekend and used a 4x6 to boost the height on the jack to lift the front of my truck up by the front xmember. Did it really well.

I have the HF low pro aluminum jack and made a couple of spacer bocks from 4x4 hardwood 1 3" and 1 6" which allows the low pro to lift a lifted 4x4 and is still light enough to throw in the back and move where I need it. Have had and used several HF bottle jacks with no problems.

I think you're taking the 'glass is half empty' view. You now have the perfect jack to use on sloped driveways.
