I have had weathertech in the past and the material wore through where my clutch pedal hits. This is a wear spot and makes sense but the mat also wore though where my feet go and at the edge it ripped allowing all the water that collects to run through soaking the carpet and then water sits under there unable to dry cause rust, rot etc....

I want to replace them. Are there any recommended mats that are not too expensive. THe weathertech ones were kind of a joke to be honest and now they dont make them anymore so i cant order the same ones or just the replacement one i need for the drivers side. THey dont offer the laser cut ones either. Apparently the truck is too old.

Any good universal mats out there that will hold up, trap water from winter snow here in the midwest and stay put...as to not bunch up and piss me off that way?

OP, are you talking about the Weathertech digital fits mats? Those are some sturdy mats. I have yet to wear through mine and I've had mine at least 4 years now.

I've made mats for three of my vehicles using the carpet mat as a pattern and checkerplate rubber sheet as the new mat. I've been using one set of these for about ten years now and they barely show any wear at the heel point. They're thin enough that this 6' 6" driver doesn't give up more legroom than needed...

I've used checkerplate (5-bar safety tread) rubber sheet from Costco for the last few sets of mats and cargo liners. (I'm partial to the aesthetics of checkerplate.) Costco has this rubber as a 5' x 7' rectangle for $100 or a 3'x 15' runner for $140. Depending on your sizes one or the other may work out better. For sure one can cut several sets from one mat, so the cost is pretty reasonable in the end.

The rubber is easily cut with scissors following a chalk line traced around the pattern mat. The original retention clips work just fine, either with a simple hole in the rubber (my RX350), a reinforcing grommet (my Gen 1), or the original toggles (my Gen 2).

One could put a rubber or vinyl edge bead around the mat to give it a more finished look and/or better containment of water and slush. I've not needed to do that for my driving patterns.

Here's the set I recently made for my 2015 double cab. The hardest part was finding the right plastic grommet for the retention clips.

Here's the set installed in my Lexus RX350.

Here's a nickel-plated brass grommet installed in my Gen 1 to reinforce the hole for the retention hook.

Holy crap this looks like a great idea and about same cost as a set of front 'hi-po floor mats' :)jerkoff: IKR) nobody gonna be able to convince me to spend a hundred dollars on floor mats. So I like this idea. I can make nice solid sturdy mats for multiple vehicles, sweet:blahblah: thanks for sharing :D

I love this idea. Thanks. Wow, you have a plethora of cars. I am guessing you do not live in CO where a 5 car garage is a 5 million dollar house. lol

Husky's (and maybe others) are nice because they are also like a tray for dirt/debris/water. Completely protects the floor/carpet.
