had i hit one, i would have seen manatee or dolphin on my dinner plate tonight

 

We eat tilapia almost every week, i love it, broiled (or grilled) with some good seasoning, gonna have the left overs for lunch tomorrow!

 

poor inlanders, wouldnt know good fish if it slapped em in the face

 

eh, i've grown up around/on the water and had all kinds of fish. talapia isn't bad, just a little bland. but that's what spices are for

Mmmmmm. they actually spread pretty far north. great waterfront joint up near virginia beach that serves it when the locals can catch it.

 

oh yeah...they go all the way up to the Chesapeake. we used to catch em up there, completely different style than what I do here, but still the best damn eating fish in the ocean.

 

i'm actually surprised at the lack of places on the bay that had it around us. that's why i always just got it down near VA beach.

 

there a pretty protected species, tight limits, not really commercially harvested, therefore they have to be privately caught which = $$$$

plus they are highly migratory, so commercial fisherman would literally have to be traveling constantly to keep up with em.

 

maybe if I can make it to the next camping or cookout meet ill bring some.

Ive got a killer tariyaki and ginger recipe for it.

 

that would explain it. i kne they were migratory though since they only had it part of the year. i've never tried for them though

 

we get em for bout a month or so thick as they head north along the beach. get to sight fish for em, best damn experience in the world.. luckily there are some resident fish on the wrecks.

 

you into spear fishing?

 

ive done some spearing in the keys with a pole spear. never used a gun tho. and diving off jax is kinda sketchy. lol

 

if you ever ge a chance to go with a gun, do it. my buddy bought a bunch of gear and i got to go with him 4 or 5 times. he graduated last semester though, so i gues i have to get my own gear now. realy run though if you can get your hands on a gun.

 

speaking of cobia dad and I are about to get a tower put on our bay boat for sight fishing. Ill post some before and after pictures for you guys, were completely redoing the interior of our boat.

the welding shop here i get all of my steel from makes towers as a side business.

were taking the console off our boat. moving all of the controls and shit up off the deck, having a 5 foot platform to stand on and drive. and putting a new style box under the platform.

 

like this but no controls on the bottom, just up in the tower.

on another fishing note, i'm not as in with the fishing culture down here as i am in VA/MD and a little in north carolina, but how long have those power poles been popular down here? seems like in NC and up, they've really exploded in the last year or two.
