Quick question: helping my friend move some basic furniture and stuff this wkd and the ball hitch w/ my bumper claims to pull 3500lbs. If I'm moving a bed, couch, and dresser do you think that will be safe to do? I find it hard to believe that lil bumper can crank out 3500lbs.

 

Just furniture will be OK but dont load her up with a stove, icebox, washer, dryer. put anything heavy in the mid.of the u haul and it will work out. If the bumper is getting close to the ground you might have to think about 2 trips. Jim

 

i don't think that furniture will be anything close to the limit, but i would be really careful around curbs, i think if u hit the trailer on a curb u might have a good chance of bending/denting your bumper, i've seen it happen on a ranger that was bumper towing

 

keep in mind that your bumper is never taking a full 3500 lb load. it'll never experience more than a few hundred lbs of force in any direction as long as you balance the load on the trailer correctly.

Sure does sound like ur CVs binding. Is it only in 1 directions or both ways. Also get underneath and shake ur CV. If its loose than theres your problem.

 

I have heard that kind of noise from a loose upper control arm bolt, throw a wrench on that sucker and make sure it's tight

 

Kameron, can you feel whatever is making the noise in the steering wheel? My pop sounded just like that, (but only happened once per reverse) and i could feel it in the wheel.

I did have a UCA bolt come loose on me once. i couldn't feel it in the wheel, and it sounded more like a click than a pop. wasn't quite as intense as kameron's noise. it was really loose too. i could shake it back and forth by hand.

 

try putting it in 4WD and than turn. If it still does it than that will help narrow it down. If its a CV problem it won't make that noise anymore in 4WD.
