    This is true.... If your bracket is directly bolted to a bumper or something similar...then it's grounded already...

    Mine is bolted to my spare tire rack (in bed) so to get a good ground, I simply bolted a small 12ga wire to the bracket, and ran it down onto a frame bolt... Worked perfectly


    As for length of antenna, it's depends on where you mount it.... U want atleast 1ft of antenna to stick up above the cab, so as u can transmit to others in front of you....
    Depending on your antenna length and CB power output , depends on how long of a coax cable you need ....

    I have a little cobra stealth CB (hidden in center console)
    A 4' stick .... And 14ft of coax..... My transmit/receive powers are perfectly balanced with this setup.... I didn't have to tune anything

    If you don't get your setup tuned correctly, u can damage your CB
    NEVER Mic out your CB, without an antenna hooked up ... No bueno

    does the mount touch any metal that through touching other metal eventually leads to the frame.

    that is the question you ask. if the answer is yes, you have a ground.

    bedrail mounted does not yeild a ground. bumper mounted does.

    Mike, you will have to run a ground wire, but that's super easy. Just drop it down to one of the bed bolts. Or like Thomas said, go through one of the bed pockets directly to a frame bolt of some sort.

    I still recomend running a wire down to frame.
    Our beds are fiberglass lined.....fiberglass is a good electrical insulator not conductor
