Hey guys, haven't been on much the last week or so. been a real busy week with school, work, and a damn cold. I have some PMs from a couple people that i have seen and will get back to. jsut wanted to let you know i got them, but am just low on time recently.

on a plus note, i got my hands on a ticket to see the President speak at our school on Sunday. pretty pumped for that. I've never seen any president in real life.

i was pissed. took me 7 hours and one hell of a sunburn and right when i walk out, i run into a friend who has a ticket.......he got it a day earlier as a press pass since he's a photographer for the school paper

 

I must say the stupid spare tire release on the newer chevys is garbage... Was just at the beach and the dude either popped the tire off his rim or it went flat then popped off his rim.


Tried to help him change it and couldnt get the damn spare to drop out..i dunno wtf the problem was.

He just got back from a tour with the navy and is leaving for Jamaica in the morning. poor dude.

the truck also didnt have a jack in it so I had to use mine..got the flat off..went to drop the spare and the fucker wouldnt budge.

I have fronts only... Black on black ....No airbag slits... Going to mod them to accept airbags (cut and stich seem)

hey jason or any other expertise mechanics, does an oil pan on a 2001 highlander 3.0 6 cyl really take 2.5 hours, or is it just 12-16 bolts and draining oil?

 

This is what ALL DATA says it should pay. Typically we go by ALL DATA time unless it's something more common.
Oil Pan Gasket Replace Upper 4.2 Lower 2.5

 

thanks for the quick reply, it's just the lower pan that needs replacing because the nut was crossthreaded, is it not just the bolts or is something in the way, i can't look under the car cause it's in tampa and i'm in "gville" like thomas said

 

I edited my previous post to claify the labor, but if i remember right you may likely have to drop the front exhaust pipe to remove the pan.

 

ok cool, thanks, just makin sure it wasn't just a simple remove the nuts and be charged like $200. how much per hour does your dealer charge?

 

I think $105 or something near that.

a shop said they charged $90 per hour, and they said they were the cheapest in the area, I used to recall labor being like $75 -80 per hour, but I guess inflation

 

dude the jet ski shop that takes care of our skis at work charges like 120 an hour or some shit like that. they knocked it down to 90 an hour for us cuz we bought 6 brand new skis from em at the beginnig of this year for all the non warranty work...how kind of them
