Did you check the tire pressure? I bet they aired them up too high, or higher than they were.

Just a few PSIs can make a huge difference. That's about the only thing I can think of.

I'm debating whether to just throw down the money for a complete rifle, or save my money and get the components that are likely to be banned and worry about the rest later.

I also want to get a small semi-auto pistol to keep in my truck full-time. Will probably get that first since it will be so cheap.

So little time (assuming they do actually put the ban into effect, and soon) and so many things I want to buy...

    Mine has flown by. Sucks.

thought about that one but like i told nam. most the stuff i have when going on long trips(like coolers and other stuff) sticks up above the sides like 2 or maybe 3” so i could not cover everything and rain would still get in the bed.
soft topper i can stack stuff a lot higher than the bed rails and still keep it all dry.

For sure buy a lower now and maybe a stripped upper. Everything else you will be able to obtain fairly easy (if there is a ban in effect), also grab some 30 round pmags before those are banned too. I bought a new shotgun yesterday :oldglory:

    Mike/Will (well...really anyone),

After talking with my neighbor and a few buddies, I've been considering a weapon for the house more and more lately. Too many fucking idiot crazy shits out there. I want Lindsay to be comfortable firing it as well.

Rifle is not on the list, not practical for me for home defense, same with shotgun (Lindsay is not comfortable firing one ). So really, its the pistol debate. First on the list is a p226 .40 or 9mm. When I'm in NY I'm going to hook up with my dads buddies and fire a ton of stuff, time to make a list.

    Thoughts on the Sig?

You will get the 9mm or 380 right off but if the wife is going to shoot it also ,, look at a hammerless 38. more or less point and pull without all the moving parts. The ladys love them.Good power and EZ to use..

X2 my girl loves hers , but she uses it for concealed carry
On her nightstand sits a cheap Taurus pt 111 9mm

I enjoy my LCP 380 for ccw

Best home defense money can buy is no doubt the 1911 ... But not cheap .... That's what sits on my nightstand

I need to find something for both of us. 1 gun, biometric safe (I used to sleep walk when I was a kid, not taking any chances), and that's it. I know its an added step, if someone is in the house, that's a few hoops to jump through, but worth it imo.

I have heard some negative comments on 9mm for home defense. Is the stopping power of a 40 that much more than 9? Also, is that difference worth it if she is mildly uncomfortable shooting it (we will have plenty of practice at the range, often) but if shit hits the fan I don't want her afraid to shoot the gun because of its power.

Most important for any type of use is ...user comfort
She and you must feel comfortable shooting it...no matter the situation

A 9mm has plenty of stopping power, with correct rounds in it ... Not fmj

Checkout the 38 hamerless revolvers... They shoot good, and will never fail to fire in an emergency ... Just point and pull

    i agree on the safes.

also i read and watched a video. it was say most(not all)but most bullets miss vital blood vessels by MM, imho a .40 is a great gun. it’s bigger than a 9mm and does have more stopping power(duh) also i think if most bullets miss by just MM it is more likely to hit one and the guy bleed out very fast.

    also i don’t think recoil is bad, i shot a glock 22(full size .40) when i was like 10 or 11.

I have heard this time and time again, defiantly on the list as well. Home defense isn't the time to show off. I don't remember when or who, but someone told me "yea but a revolver looks so boring"...this isn't a costume contest, I hope I never have to use it, but if I do, I don't care what it looks like.

I chose my ruger lcp for carry... Because it's smallest and lightest I could fit my hand comfortably
1911 .45 is my home defense , because it's reliable fire, major stopping power and round capacity

My 1911 would jam occasionally in the first 200 rounds through it... After another 800 rounds it has yet to FTF .

200 rounds through the lcp and yet to have a FTF ... It's not pleasurable to shoot due to it's extremely stiff trigger ... But that's good for a ccw ...
My girl hates the lcp due to trigger pull, she struggles to pull trigger comfortably ...

    Just some thoughts to consider
