Well my new cheby tahoe is going to live up to the crap heap that cheby is known for. Turned it in this morning for a simple oil change and the rear bearing seal or some dewhicky was leaking so it was sent back to the dealer today for warranty work.....3200 miles and already a POS. Oh yeah the electrical system sucks too. Nothing but problems there so far....Why can't they just buy us tacomas??

Does anyone know of a good offroading spot within like 3 hours from Pensacola? Ocala sounds great but its a bit far for a day trip.

Well, after removing the light bar, selling 2 of the red rings back to Thomas, and painting my red rings black, here's how she looks this afternoon. Too plain if you ask me.

In case anyone is curious about towing mpg's I got 10.4 towing my boat 150 miles in 4th gear the entire time. Boat, trailer, and gear is roughly 3500 lbs. I can live with that from a V6.

edit: That was with 1/2 tank 87 octane and 1/2 tank 93. Return trip was all 87, but haven't filled back up yet. If it's any different I'll let ya know.

with a boat that light, you should be able to tow just fine in 5th gear. i generally tow in 5th gear, pulling a 6500 lb boat/trailer. i just look ahead so i can prepare for hills before i get up on them and then have to punch it down in 3rd.

tow in 5th, and i wouldn't be surprised if you see 14+mpg

I've tried it. It seems to hunt a lot more than I would like.

it does require pretty constant throttle modulation, but on flat roads i was able to maintain 5th geat at 65 mph. could never do it towing around VA/MD, but it worked well in most of FL.

my truck is pretty loud though, especially under the load of towing a boat, so the extra effort was worth it to me. with a quieter truck, 4th gear won't hurt your ears after a couple hours
