Sanded the headlights just for the trip. Looks good, but up close a definite yellowing in the lens. At least this buys me time to do the trd headlights right

I thought about that today, the fact that I never responded. My bad. Been crazy with work, back problems, family stuff, kyle started kindergarten, etc...

Alright, I know this has been brought up in this thread multiple times before, but I have a question.

Where is the best/lest expensive place to look/buy entry level off road rc's? I am looking to get me/kyle an entry level truck that can go fairly fast and run on grass/rocks/dirt/sand. He loves going outside with his little remote controls he has, but is always left wanting more cause they aren't designed for it.Thanks guys.

 

Dude...you are going to get addicted. I used to be really into this stuff.

Kyle will probably get more enjoyment out of a go-fast truck than a crawler.

I had the Axial SCX10 and Axial Wraith and loved them. Both are around $350. For Kyle, I'd look at the Axial Ridgecrest. You'd love either the SCX10 or the Wraith. SCX10 is more of a scaler/crawler and the Wraith is more of a go-fast basher.

Best place to look around here is Superior Hobbies in Casselberry. I wouldn't buy from there as they can be pretty expensive. I usually buy from TowerHobbies.com once I've decided on the truck I want. Tower has a cool Easy Pay option where they split the overall cost of the truck into three payments that you pay out monthly. First payment on the day you buy it and then the other two the following months. They ship the truck on day one. Basically no interest "financing" minus the credit check.

As for batteries, I've got a ton and would be more than happy to sell or barter some to you. Might even let go of my charger if you want it.

Thanks for the info, but $350. I was thinking more along the lines of $150 or so. Don't think I can talk the wife into dropping that much on one of those. But I will look into that web site for sure, on their front page they have coupons, that's pretty damn cool.

 

Yep - they always have a deal going on. Usually it's like $25 off a purchase of $150+ or so.

Take a look around TowerHobbies.com in that price range and see what you find.

I had an HPI Blitz (short course) and loved it. It was a real challenge to drive since it was 2WD, but still a blast. Not the best on grass, though.

There are certainly cheaper ones out there from some of the smaller guys that Kyle would still have a blast with. I remember when I was his age, I had a Team Associated RC10T3 that I built. Was great until things broke...then I got all pissed off...oh...wait...that still happens.

Also check out the thread on here titled, "Anyone into R/C?". Great info in there, but watch your ass...lots of pros that will have even more expensive suggestions for you.

Lastly, go on over to RCCrawler.com (I'm on there with the same username). There are always used/modded out trucks for sale in the Classifieds. For Kyle, that may not be a bad option.
