    it's a totally different direction, but have you thought about a hawse fairlead? they make them for steel cable.

    better approach clearance when you come up to a steep hill or large obstacle. no rattle from the rollers during every day driving. the rollers will rattle and squeak the more they are used...... and they look cool :eek: not a ton of plusses, but a couple, depending on what you are looking for.

    Thanks. I just googled it and found a thread on pirate about it and people were singing the praised for the hawse fairleads over the rollers. Definitely going to look into that. Thanks for the added push on the idea, I was tossing it around a bit.

    My 4 banger handled the 3,000 lbs trailer like it wasn't even there! Average mpg was 18.5. However, the diesel rental truck only got 8 mpg! :eek:

    I understand why they did this, I just think its hilarious. This was inside a box for running boards for a brand new Rav 4. There is another box in there the same size so I'm sure they didn't want people thinking they forgot to put something in.

    Now that I've got my truck in safe operating condition, I'm ready to hit the trails at Richloam to shake things down (and learn how to drive my Lincoln locked front end) before the Citrus meet in November.

    So...anyone up for a day of trail riding at Richloam on either 9/28 or 10/5? Ideally, I'd like to have at least one other 4WD along to rescue me in case I get crazy and push the envelope a bit, but 2WDs shouldn't have a ton of trouble as long as they have decent tires.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? :D
