yea thanks, that's what i was asking concerning the front, cuse i'm was lookin at some premade truck boxes, and some of them will be like 8ish bottom depth, whereas the ones made for tacoma pretty much stop at 7.5

 

what type of box do you have in urs?

 

i don't know. got it second hand from someone on here, but never inquired about the brand or origin. i would assume it's just a prefab ebay one though

 

Mine is pretty much what Colin got. I got mine off eBay brand new.

 

ok so the limited slip diff is basically middle ground between reg diffs and diff locks, so im assuming here the diff lock is the better one to go with, assuming I dont have the LSD, even though its more expensive?

sorry if I ask all these questions lol, this tacoma is my first vehicle and my first experience with anything automotive related, so Im trying to grasp what is what, and what is better and why it is. Like it took me 7 freakin hours to put my 3" lift on my taco...because I had no F'ing clue what I was doing lol, luckily the mechanics on base were awesome and guided me step by step through, so I have a better idea now of what to do, but there still is a lot I dont know about

 

I have 09 prerunner sr5 with a LSD and I can say from experience unless you want a couple people in your bed trying to weigh you down enough to get traction just spend the money on a locker

 

I remember that...

 

LSD is pretty much okay for street use, helping you get extra traction under hard acceleration or on wet roads, but it's almost useless for off-road applications since once you pull a tire off the ground, or one tire has zero traction, it'll act pretty much just like an open diff and send all the power to the wheel with no traction.

An LSD is far from a locker, however, if you know how to use one, they can be quite useful off road. The below video is from 3 years ago at Citrus. what you need to do is get the non traction wheel spinning, then with your foot still on the gas, lock that wheel up with the brakes. that will really activate the clutch packs in the diff. you can see in the video that every time i lock up the wheel that's off the ground, i go forward a little, until i eventually get all 4 back on the ground. I don't know if this works with the newer electronic LSDs though.
