I learned this the hard way too with the 15x12 Alcoas I had on my YJ. You have to retorque new aluminum wheels after about 100 miles because the aluminum compresses a bit with the initial install. Of course, nobody told me that until I nearly lost a wheel on the interstate and destroyed two of them. Luckily, the 4x4 shop that installed them at went ahead and ate it, replacing them for me because I watched them install them and didn't see the tech use a torque wrench on them.

Lesson learned.

I got a nice kobalt torque wrench from lowes for 60 $. It feels just as nice as my old snap on.
