i do kinda agree though most full size seam to be a lot about luxury now.


and you see some people want that. with all the threads on here about the taco being so basic, and wanted sun roofs, and dual climate front and back(on the DC) it rides to rough, it has to much wind noise, why no heated seat,steering wheel, mirrors, wiper blades. why not more power, why no nav stock. imho it’s not a BMW/ or luxes it’s a truck, and if you use it 90% as such a lot of that stuff does not bother you. or it’s just a lot more stuff to mess up. hell go back 10 years or maybe less and full size trucks did not have half the luxury items they do now. hell i think my taco has more than dads 2000 tundra.

 

no kidding? i'll have to look up the episode and see what all they did to it.

folks want the simplicity on old school, but the comfort and bells and whistles of new school. typically the two can't coexist.

it's almost like they work for consumer reports

I think itd be cool to have a V8 Taco, V6 is awesome for what it is, but I think it would be interesting to see a V8 Taco.

 

Long as we're wishin', I wish they'd start selling the Hilux in the US again...with a solid front axle and a full floating rear end (like the pre-Taco Hilux had) with E-locker options for both. And an interior that could be hosed out would also be a plus IMHO.

 

I have always said, when/if I ever have to replace my engine it will be with a V8. Why bother replacing with stock when it's fairly simple to upgrade to an 8.

He's the one I got the idea from. I have always considered it, but after talking to him at your house it seems easier than I expected.

 

electronics would be the most cumbersome part. everything else is essentially mechanic/fabrication 101

 

Exactly. This is the simple version of what he told me:

-2003 tundra engine (give or take year)
-'03-'09 4runner v8 engine mounts
-v8tranny bell housing
-4runner radiator
-ECM and wiring

 

'bout sums it up.....

then you just have to shift some stuff around under the hood and call it a day.

upgrading the fuel pump couldn't hurth either. stock ones aren't exactly high flow.

I agree on the v8 platform more than the diesel...
in my opinion the diesel is a lot of extra maintenance
that is just not worth it.
