got a text from mama bear yesterday saying that she picked up the peanut oil for turkey day now i just have to make the marinade/injection mix when i get home tonight and it's game on!!!!!!

 

Do you brine your bird? I will never cook another turkey or chicken without brining it first ever again. It makes them so juicy and tasty it's ridiculous.

I smoked a chicken once after brine and it was amazing, I baked a chicken not long after without brining and it was ok, but no where as juicy and tasty as with.

 

Going back to Va.?

 

Anybody else just not a fan of turkey? I can't eat it without a shit ton of cranberry on it.

i haven't brined. maybe next year, since we already have the supplies for this year. i typically make a cajun butter marinade/injection. i inject the hell out of the bird, and then lather it on the outside to prep it for the the home made dry rub. the bird is dripping flavor as you dunk it in the fryer. also fty with 100% peanut oil. when you cut the turkey, moisture just pours out of it with every slice. gotta cut it in a pan to keep from having a mess all over the counter.

this was last years (when i didn't make enough rub )

 

yesir. flying leaving the office in about an hour to grab my stuff for a 7:00 flight out
haven't seen a single family member since graduation in early May. longest gap to date

i was never too enthusiastic about it when we just tossed it in the oven. buy frying it brings a whole new side to turkeyday.

 

Ok...that does sound pretty amazing.
