Had myself a little visitor today

 

well now, I guess my swaybar is coming off today now, I really have no idea how, but the bolt that broke on my previous links...is now broken on my new AP links. Same side, front left, and same nut that broke off. I have no idea what happened to cause it, its the same incident that I had when I had to buy these AP links because the other nut broke. and there is no way in hell I am spending more money to get them fixed again.

 

I would imagine there should be some sort of warranty on them though. You didn't buy them that long ago.

 

thanks for reminding me about that, they might. Ill give em a call, luckily I still have the invoice papers that came with the links, I just had them shoved in the box they came in that has been sitting under my bed with the old links. bought them back in August, so Ill see how taht goes with the warranty thing

 

*sigh* just looked at APs website, warranty is only good for 90 days from original purchase date. I purchased my links 8/26/13....so its too late for warranty. There goes that idea

 

That sucks, but you might as well get rid of that away bar anyway. Or if you want to put it back on after the meet I will bring you both of my links from when I took mine off.

 

I might not be seeing everything, but from the pictures, it looks like you just need a new bolt, bushing, and nut. The link looks to be still useable even though the barrel is a little gouged. Did the bolt actually break, or did the nut back off and the bolt fell out? If the nut just came off and you put the link back on, I recommend using some blue locktite so it doesn't come off again.

 

ya, I was in the process of taking the sway bar off in the parking lot, and the manager for the EOD school just happened to drive by and told me that I couldnt do that, that I had to go to the Hobby Shop to do that, even though I have done stuff like this since Ive gotten here back in July. I really hate the I am forced to spend money just to do something like this, I was going to put in the new brake pads in as well...I seriously hate living in these dorms, I really do. So now I have to wait till tomorrow to go to the hobby shop, and I have the swaybar just hangin there since I wasnt able to get the skid off before that asshole manager came by.

from what I believe happened, the nut broke off, its the same thing that I believe happened with the factory links that the nut broke off and the bolt was still there. one of the guys that posted on that thread suggested a sway bar relocate kit, but I just may get rid of the sway bar all together and sell my links. But i need to get a new bolt/bushing/nut for that one piece.

 

I've never seen a nut break off. Strip out? Sure. Seize and cold weld itself to the bolt? Sure. Never seen one break into pieces though...not unless it was done on purpose. So unless you saw actual pieces of it, then it's more likely that it just backed off until it fell off the bolt.

Sounds like you got a handle on it though. Can't break something that ain't there, yeah?

 

true that lol, the bolt may have just stripped out of the nut, but how...I have no idea, its the same scenario with the factory links how it broke

lol, I went back out to the parking lot after it got dark and finished taking it off , no stupid building manager came around

 

If it makes ya feel better I'm about to have to rent out a storage unit so I can work on my truck. I was using my parents garage and my dad recently told me not to anymore due to excessive noise or something lol

Yea it happened while I was cutting el cab mount. It's gonna be worse tomorrow when I'm doing the fenders.

 

oh wow lol, thats gonna be interesting, this is what my closet and bed have become in my dorm since getting obsessed with my taco...and keep in mind that closet is not very big, I was leaning back all the way to take that 2nd pic...parts everywhere, I seriously need to get rid of them or sell em, if anyone is interested in anything lemme know.
