    Dude! Take your time and put some more effort into that. If you can see the imperfections in a photo, it's going to show up even worse when it's painted.

    Please dont paint this. Bondo is extremely easy to work with. It just takes time. Go get some 80 grit sand paper and a half round file. Use the half round to get it knocked down and then use the 80 to get it really close to where you want it. And then some 220 or higher to bring it down to exactly where you want it. If you take to much off just add more and start again

    I have a few mods
    I AM!!! lol, ive been working on this for the past 4 hours lol, its better than it looked before. I had just painted over the fiberglass originally and now I just got to the bondo, it looks a hell of a lot better than it did

    here you can see what its looked like for the past 2 months

    You need to fill in the gap on the left side also you should sand the back side a little more so that it is even other then that it's looking good:thumbsup:

    Hey Jim, how long did it take you to get it to look like that?

    Getting stuff like that to look good can be frustrating if you're not experienced with it, or lack the patience. I pretty much suck at it myself. I'm too impatient. However, 4banger4x4's advice was dead on--especially about the going back over it with 220 grit after you get it close to where you want it. The good thing about it is that if you have the patience and don't sand a hole in the material you're working with, you can keep doing it over until you get a result close to Jim's.

    Good luck on the second attempt! Try not to get impatient and call it good before it is. I know it's easier to say than it is to do, but it is what it is. :cool:

    ok, sorry about that outburst by me a minute ago, just not a good day mostly. hows this, I really honestly dont see how I cant get it any better, I used the 80 grit most of it, then used the 220 grit to smooth it out

    All of those straight edges will show up when painted. The bondo needs to be "feathered" in for a smooth, uninterrupted look.

    That's much better than the first attempt. Now hit it with that 220 grit to feather the edges in like Ckeene was saying and to get the grooves out left by the coarser sandpaper and you should be close. If you want it to look really good though, you should probably try to fill in that hole in the top inside corner of the first one.

    Nammer, here's the factory in the right and the 886 in the left. With just the factories i couldn't see light hitting the wall, with both 886's im throwing shadows. These things are so much brighter.

    How long do you let the bondo cure? I always get impatient and try to sand it too soon and end up plugging up the sandpaper and causing pits in the bondo. Fortunately, I've never had to achieve a finish grade result. I was mostly just smoothing the seems around sealing surfaces for aircraft doors and such.

    It depends on how much hardner you put in it but I usually try and rub it and if your able to rub it off its still not dry

    This! I typically mix my bondo to be sandable in 20 minutes but usually less than that.

    tahts roughly how long I let my bondo set before sanding it. I got as much of the bondo smoothed out as possible. I put the first coat on and its lookin good :D. May not be perfect like riverrats, but its a hell of a lot better than having 2 holes on each side with just fiber glass painted over :eek:

    Thin bondo in 30 min. . thick 1or2 hrs. After 2 coats I do the black paint, hold off 30 min. then a white mist coat over the black to see if Im happy with it:)

    Question. I have the maxtrac spindles on and the extended brake lines. If I throw some ome 885s on am I going to have to extend the brake lines again? Also, I have a2 inch block in the rear. Will I have to extend anything if I add an AAL?
