    The hubs, I don't know. It looks like the brakes were done fairly recently. The paint on the springs is glossy and bright. All the hardware looks new. And the shoes and drums are still pretty flat, not nearly as grooved up as you would expect to see with more wear.

    The wheel seals aren't leaking, nor do the wheel cylinders appear to be leaking.

    I guess I could try bleeding the LSPV, but it's not really acting like people have described when the thing needed bleeding. When I installed the extended brake line, I bled the wheel cylinders pretty good, with a hose attached to the bleeder valve and the other end submerged in a clear glass bottle of brake fluid, bleeding them until no more bubbles came out. The pedal isn't spongy at all.

    Honestly, I'm starting to think I might need a longer extension bracket for the LSPV linkage. I might try taking it loose and wiring it up into a higher position to see if that improves things. Doesn't explain the E-brake junk though.

    Thanks for the ideas though. :)

    You are washing MUD off and re-adjusting everything????

    Even the little cams in the backing plates that HELP the e-brake function ???

    1st Gens like front brakes BUT LOVE to have no REAR brakes....

    I know it is a repetitive pain in the a$$ but CLEAN & ADJUST everything on that rear brake system....TIGHTLY....If bleeding the prop valve gives you piece of mind,include it...

    I just towed that trailer 1500 miles and looking at my front wheel brake dust you would think they did all the work BUT in driving I-95 traffic I NEVER would have stopped a loaded rig without the rears....ADJUSTMENT means everything..

    Just an "Old Man" opinion...;)

    I own one of those. And a set of Mitutoyo digital calipers. Although, I doubt my mic is big enough to measure the drum. You're talking about the drum, right? As opposed to the thing the bearing and wheel seal rides in?

    i have the 5" bracket from BAMF and its set all the way up. when your wheels are up in the air and you spin the wheels do you hear the shoe dragging on the drum?

    Yeah, they had a nice coat of mud and junk on them. Not packed full or even all that thick, but definitely present. They are clean now though. And yeah, I'll be readjusting everything when I put it back together. I figure I'm going to entirely re-rig my E-brake mechanism from wheels to handle.

    I only have Toytecs little 2.5 inch bracket. :p

    After I adjusted them this morning I did. Didn't seem to make much difference though.

    Okay, this is probably going to be a silly question, but what to shoes look like if they have been over-heated and crystallized? Never seen it before so I'm not sure what to look for.

    EASY there, try that "cam-resurrection" 1st before throwing good $$$ away..

    I learned that le$$on quickly when the "Toyota Tech's" re-framed mine...I bought them lunch and they gave me great brakes....those "cams" are easily overlooked BUT well worth looking at....

    And cleaning/re-adjusting them is part of my "Spring PM" package after a NH winter.......Oh $hit, no more of those after this season...:D

    Haha, when I said re-rig, I meant that from an aircraft tech's perspective: I'm just going to adjust the cable per manual spec from the wheels to the handle in the cab. Although I don't have a fish scale that reads ~40lbs, so I'll be guessing there. No $$$, just my time, which is free on my truck.

    I'll definitely look at them though. 'Preciate the advice. :D
