It's not mine. Just a pic of one I found on the interwebz, but it is what I think of when someone mentions old school. My '81 and '83 had emblems similar to that.

just got done at firestone getting my girl aligned, she no longer pulls to the right but the horrid vibs are still there at 40 mph accelerating. which u joint is normally needing to be replaced, tranny one, mid shaft or rear? I stopped by Oreillys and picked one up

My little project for today. Illuminated the back of the center console. I used a motorcycle LED brake light strip i had laying around from my old bike. Fit and worked like a charm.

Pick up three or four more. It's good to have an extra one or two in the truck in case you pop one on the trail.

I don't know if there's one that 'normally' goes bad on a 2nd Gen (or a 1st Gen for that matter) but I will give some advice. Before you tear into it, get yourself a big C-clamp or better yet, a balljoint press. It will make your life a lot easier. Here's a good video on how to change one. (The guy is like the biggest hick in the world, but his instructions are no less valid for it. ) Only thing I didn't really like was how he smacked the caps with a hammer to loosen the joint up. Don't do that. The caps are pretty fragile. Use a brass drift or something and tap the cross itself behind the bearing surface.

Edit: BTW, you can do it almost the sameway he does it with just a c-clamp. You just have to use a couple of sockets, one that fits inside the hole and one that the cap fits inside. Or, you can drive it out with a BFH and press the new one in with the c-clamp, which is how we used to do it since sometimes the old ones take a bit more persuasion to start moving than you can get with a c-clamp.
