Yes, it's very tight. It actually pushes up on my grill some. I had to chop off the point that goes into the centering hole and chop off the centering hole itself.

I know what you mean but if you are desperate it could be all you've got plus if the knot breaks it won't be as dangerous as wire.

hmm, that may have just marked that winch off my list. when you get a chance, would you mind measureing the height from the winch mouting surface to the tip plate of the bumper? asuming that height is where it's tight.

and yeah, i've seen synthetic line break in youtube videos, it's kindof like when a tow strap breaks, it's elastic, but so leight weight that it slows down quickly. definately safer than breaking a cable.

Tip plate of the bumper? The problem is between the mount plate and the bottom of the grill. To give you an idea
    [IMG]

I had to unbolt the black bar and chop the part that the bolt goes through. It's barely on the back lip of the grill and I could probably trim the grill more to totally prevent contact. It really depends on how much vertical room you have and how far forward the mount plate is in relation to the grill. Before you buy if you help me we can try to mount mine on yours next mod day, it will just be a bit of work. Or we could just do a ton of measuring and remeasuring. You can return stuff to Amazon just the shipping could be a bit much.

If that were your girlfriend I would do more than just kiss her down yunder

i gotcha, so in that bicture is it measuring 7.7 inches? hard to tell. now that i look at it, both of our bumper's top plates will be at the same height about, since they both fit the body line. but if i take that same measurement and get a smaller number, it means that the winch plate is higher, and i'd have to trim thee grill and metal support a lot. then again, it could be lower and give me more room. hard to eyeball. if i don't have a winch before the next meet, i'd be more than content just measuring a lot.

I don't recall the exact measurement. Let me do some scavenging because I posted it or pm'ed it at some point I believe. In the mean time here are some pics although I'm too late because you got it already.

You'll have to just completely take off the grill center hole. The hole is pretty far out and once you lop that off you might as well make it clean and flush and take the rest off.

wow, that is a tight fit. looks like the winch almost supports the grill where the center mount used to be.

were you able to jsut drop the winch in the mounted bumper after you took off the grill?

i actually have to drop the bumper because the top plate come all of the way back to the grill

i think he said the solenoid was built in, so he can't take it off and move it elsewhere

Yes the solenoid is actually pushing on the grill ever so slightly.

I never tried that but I took the bumper skin off because I painted a whole bunch behind the bumper to make it look cleaner.

It's integrated and is part of it's structure. Now that I'm delving deeper into this I found an interesting fact. The geniuses that measured the winch at the factory didn't measure to the top of the solenoid but to the top of the clutch lever, which is the second highest point. This explains why I had difficulty and was expecting it to fit in with no modification.

    Bingo.

I couldn't find my post so I just went outside. I have 9 5/8" between my mount and bottom of the grill. This is with the black bar removed and centering pin chopped off.

The specs weren't from ebay, they were from superwinches site. I wouldn't trust specs posted by an ebay seller. It's too easy to copy and paste something for the wrong product, kind of like what superwinch did

I'm still happy with my purchase and glad I did it. It wasn't that big of a deal to modify it.

No prob. I love helping out.

Night, gl getting up and at your meeting.

If anybody is curious, this is what I sent superwinch

    "Hello,

I bought your epi9.0S knowing that it would fit in my bumper judging by the specs on your website(the height). It turns out that the height listed is for the non integrated model which led me to believe it would fit without a snag. Unfortunately I had to make some modifications for it to fit with the actual height. Besides that I'm 100% pleased with the product and am writing this not to complain, but to let you know so hopefully you update your site for potential future buyers. By the way, Bill Burke is a major reason why I went with Superwinch, his belief in your product made me a confident buyer.

    Cheers,
    Jason Binder"

I'm anxious to see if I get anything back.
