I hear ya man. Thanks for the input. I do like the idea of having the Tacoma with me. Especially if I hit any kind of weather or anything. Having it and all my junk with me will be good peace of mind.

You'll have plenty to show for your money with the boat, man!

I'm thinking I may go beforehand. I'll be due for one in mid-October anyway (I have to go by time vs. mileage, given how little I drive).

I hear ya, I hear ya. I think you guys have convinced me to take the Tacoma.

Flights are around $460 and then I'd still need a rental while I'm there. Even the cheapest flights take me up to Atlanta, make me wait an hour and then jump on another plane - total travel time is around 5 hours. I can drive it in 7-8 or so. Just can't bring myself to shell out that kind of cash, but don't get me wrong, if the flights were closer to the $200 range and were all direct, I'd definitely do that.

I always like to drive my own vehicle. Just in case an impromptu wheeling opportunity arises.

Well, I drove my 4runner to Rhode Island and back and other than the seats being uncomfortable after a while I enjoyed the trip. Since youre not going on such a long trip i would take the truck.

I will be taking the Tacoma to Arizona in March but I've flown hundreds of times and cant do it anyone, i enjoy the trip. Rental cars are so boring anyway.

I appreciate the feedback. I figure 1,000 miles really isn't long at all so I might as well save the cash on the rental car and bank it. Plus, I have free preventative maintenance on the truck for another three years. :D

Just ordered the new GoPro Hero. Just the basic one. At $129.99 with 1080p30 and 720p60, I couldn't pass it up. Helps that I can write it off through my drone business.

Going to use it mostly as a dash cam, but also as a supplemental cam for small gigs where I want to video either me or my drones in action.

Making that road trip to Gulf Shores this week, figured this is a great time to get a dash cam setup. :D

you get the new mini one for the 129 regular price, or did you get a steal on a hero 3?

The new GoPro Hero they just released yesterday. Did you mean "mini" as in like basic? If so, that one. It's not any smaller in size than the others...at least to my knowledge...if so, that's a major bonus.

oops, just read the quadcopters thread.

let me know how you like it. would like to add that to the filming arsenal if it gets positive reviews over the next couple months.

i had heard rumors a few weeks ago that it was smaller, but they were only rumors, and i haven't looked into it at all since then.

I haven't read anything about it being physically smaller. It's just the little brother of the Hero4/Hero3+ from a specification perspective.

    1080p30/720p60
5MP photos with Time Lapse up to 5fps

That's about all she's got. Which is perfect for a dash/play cam.
