I have timbres that I'm not using

 

So maybe I don't fully understand the concept on how sway bars work, but from my understanding is if it was broken in the middle it wouldn't be functional? If that is the case couldn't we cut it somewhere in the center and make a sleeve with pins to make it one piece again? Sort of a quick disconect?

 

Correct, if it were to break in the middle then it wouldn't be doing anything. Your idea would work, but it's much more feasible to just do disconnects on the sway bar ends.

 

I use to run quick disconnects on my grand Cherokee, and on a wrangler, just couldn't find them for the Taco. I don't really want to remove it altogether, but I might buy some jeep ones if the bolts will fit

 

Won't just disconecting the ends leave it swinging around there to smack into stuff. That's why I was thinking about doing a link

 

What is your plan for easily accessing the center of the sway bar?

 

Just run with out it, you won't notice a difference

Hadn't gotten that far with the idea yet lol. Was just thinking about it cause I want it on when I'm on the road but I would really like to try to wheel without it

 

The torsional forces will be huge there as well...

I haven't seen anything on TW of someone doing it for those two reasons alone. Accessibility is slim to none without dismantle a bunch of skid bolts and moving that heavy thing out of the way. No less laying in the dirt and mud.

 

Yeah looking into it, the jeep was a lot easier. The ends were right next to the coils and rotated on a mount in the center.

Yup. Cutting it in the middle wouldn't work for that reason.

That looks like a good fix, too bad it looks like a one off thing. It's been posted before but I've never seen someone from here getting one of their own.

FWIW I've been without my sway bar for a few years now and it's not that bad around town and much better on the trail. Although, I'll probably be putting it back on in March when our baby is born.

 

For now I'll just take it off before big meets. And put it back on after the truck gets cleaned

 

I've felt like crap all day and have been laid out in bed with a migraine sorry dude. I actually do want to get up there still though.

 

Someone asked me if Florida Tacomas was a truck club. I said I don't really know. The last truck club I was in was High Altitude as a "prospect". I had to pay dues and got kicked out because my truck (94 Chevy on 35s) wasn't pretty enough and I had dirt on my frame at a meet. I think of this as more of a bunch of good folks talking about trucks and going out to the woods with our trucks and families. Don't want to get to sentimental or anything lol but I'm glad to be a part of this group where we actually use our trucks and build them for purpose. Just sayin.
