I'd like to ask again: is anyone missing their 265/70R16 Rugged Fail spare tire? On Saturday, after @Nigs 97Taco broke and @TuffTaco03 had to run him up to the parts store, I took some guys down to the caves and came back. It wasn't there when we went through on the way to the caves but it was laying in the middle of trail 14 when we came back. We passed Frank's group on trail 14 on the way to the caves, and I know Thorny Mike's group also went though while we were gone and Thorny Mike said the tire was there when they went through. I'm thinking it had to come from someone in Frank's group...either that or Billy was out there running trails, haha.

Anyway, I have the tire if someone is missing it.

lol, but Alaska is freakin amazing!! we are actually talking about living here after i retire from the Coast Guard,

sadly Kodiak does not get much snow like mainland Alaska.. very sad

 

id love to go to Alaska at some point, would be an awesome trip up there. I think eventually I may even move up there once im out of the military

 

messed with the welder again earlier...or yesterday evening lol. made a mockup practice thing of the crossmember ill be making eventually for the 80. the cuts were horrible......very horrible lol. But I think for a 2nd time welding....I dont think it's too horrible...these were the better ones of the night. It still looks like shit.......lol

I would day stay away from that red compound. Pretty abrasive and your truck is a little too new to need it. Could cause more damage than good. Glad the truck is coming together for you.

Give "welding tips and tricks" a follow on YouTube. Lots of good info and techniques to learn on there. Helps lessen the learning curve but nothing beats hands on.

Still learning a lot myself but ripped this out on Saturday night.

Thanks I appreciate the help. It seems while I was grinding, metal shavings landed on my paint and rusted and I woke up the next day and was terrified. The rubbing compound was alright then my brother said clay bar and wax it and it all came right out. From now on I'll use a blanket on the truck to keep the shavings off.
