    Haha, well, we handled it. No problem. :D Of course, if @kaijac03 had been standing there, he wouldn't have even had to reach above his head to get the box. :rofl: As it was, it was just barely in my range without climbing up on the slider.

    Well, the OGT is officially 4WD again. Got a NAPA Max Drive CV axle for it this time for those that weren't following the Annual Meet thread. On first blush, it looks a lot more like the factory axle than the Autozone ones I was using, so I was cautioualy hopeful that it might hold up better...but then I did a side-by-side comparison between a new Autozone DL Gold axle, the OEM Axle, and the NAPA axle. Frankly, the NAPA axle scares the shit out of me. I still put it in and I'll see how it holds up, but I have a feeling I'm going to regret it.

    Note the groove cut between the bearing and sealing surfaces. Failure point. Also note the lack of radius between the bearing surface and the splines. Failure point. This is some scary shit. If it snaps those splines off, the only way to get it out of the intermediate shaft would be to drill and tap the broken end so you could thread in a slide hammer to try to yank it out. If that doesn't work...well, I'd be screwed.

    It kinda parallels my idea of the half shaft having an engineered failure point, but fails to address what happens when it does fail (the broken ends slaming around into your suspension and steering components).

    The other ends looked fairly similar, with radii at the transitions. The AZ Birf cup did have some weird heat marks on it, but I don't really know if that's good or bad. Considering that's where they always break, it's probably bad. However, the stub axle itself looks like it might be a touch larger in diameter than the OEM and NAPA axles between the splines and the bearing surface. Given where the OEM stub axle failed, the AZ axle being slightly thicker between the splines and the bearing surface probably doesn't make a difference though.

    Maybe the NAPA axle will surprise me though and be a fairly durable axle. :fingerscrossed:

    I know this isnt for everyone but if your intrested.
    I'm thinking about creating a patch to always wear your seat belt whether its off-road or on a daily commute. Price would $10 shipped. I do have Paypal but if you send money please pay the cost of the the fee or send friends and family please. Here is a example of the patch its double sided velcro so you can attach it to anything.
