    4.10’s would suit you better on 33’s. 4.30’s would gear you too low.

    Your stock tire size is 29 and stock gears are 3.53. 3.73 or 3.91 gears would be suffice for 33’s, and 4.10s would be plenty for 35’s.

    How in the hell are you gonna fit 35’s without lifting significantly?

    I'm not so sure about that, especially if he's a 4 banger. I wonder how the 5-lug transmission is geared? The low gears might be a little higher than the 6-lugs with the lighter frame and running gear. Plus he doesn't have a low range option, being 2WD.

    At any rate, my 1st Gen fanny is going 4.88s with 33s when I do it.

    3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
    I plan on doing 4.88s when I go 35s. But mine isn't a crawler lol

    I just did my first test drive with the 4:56, shifts sooner, no funny noises, 4wd still works. Now i have to break them in for 500 miles and hook up the lockers, then hit the trails.

    ARB. I know @allenfab says they are unreliable, there are not many choices. Detroit which is rear only and probably sucks on the street, Harrop E lockers, $1400 a piece!, or a tru track for the rear only :(. So i went with ARB. Plus i need a compressor to air tires.

    They're one of those things people either have really good luck with or really crappy luck with, so people either love them or hate them...kinda like the Detroits, actually. They might be nearly 100% reliable, but they have their own issues, primarily with road manners.

    For instance, I had my first Detroit-caused "interesting event" the other day on the way to the alignment shop. It had just rained and the road was slippery. I was stopped at a stop sign and was turning left. When you turn with a Detroit, only the inside rear tire is being driven instead of both sides like with an open diff or an LSD (or a selectable locker). If that tire loses traction, then the locker slams locked and starts driving both tires. In the right conditions the shock of the locker slamming locked is enough to break the other tire loose as well. This is what happened to me when I proceeded to make the turn. The truck went a little sideways on me, but I wasn't going fast, so I just counter steered a bit and lifted off the gas to let it catch some grip. No big deal, but if you weren't expecting it and didn't react properly, things could have gotten interesting...especially since there was a rather large LP gas tank in the direction I was skidding in, haha.

    Well thats my point. I just wish there was a decent priced option to that. I hope i have good luck. I mean, if i had Dana axles and locking hubs...I’d have more options. Im in it to win it now. Haha.

    I'm actually waiting to see how long it takes before a D60 appears under @allenfab 's truck now that he's taking it out of state. :rofl:
