I just have a feeling that it would be my next epic fail.

 

Well, if the method I saw that I haven't tried yet works, changing a CV axle is easy. It's maybe a 2 hour job if you take your time and laid back about it. If you're young and hyper you can probably do it in an hour or less, haha. Maybe I'll make a video when I change the current broken one. The only real difference between mine and yours is my manual locking hubs that allow the stub axle to slide out easily instead of being a press fit like the 2nd Gens with the ADD system.

 

I'll be in Orlando June 4-6, anyone have good food places or stuff to see that isn't disneyland/universal studios?

I'll be busy that weekend, whichever one it may be lol.

My only recommendation is that you use a 2 part liner (with a separate hardener that you have to mix together and quickly apply) because it will hold up a lot better.

Well, the OGT has been cleaned top and bottom and is now prepped for surgery...while her carpet is hanging from the ceiling of the carport like the sword of Damocles.


Figure I'm gonna start with the easy part, replacing the CV axle. The big greasy mess is bugging my OCD. Then I'll yank the radiator and see how it looks.

So i already decided im going to remove the overload spring.....its way too stiff even for the road.

 

Honestly, the overload spring shouldn't make any difference. It's not supposed to even do anything until you have a load in the truck (or your suspension is compressed). Having said that, you probably don't even need it anyway since it was made for a heavier truck carrying a load. You'll lose a little ride height but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Alternatively, you could get a tool box and a bed rack and start carrying around 300 or 400 lbs of shit like the rest of us and that should soften the ride a bit.
