I got this nickname 23yrs ago when I started in the Car Biz, there were 6 Scotts and they started calling me Scooter and it stuck lol.

.308 Win is a great round. On of my favs, but the strings we had to shoot at BR for Score Matches, it would be punishing. We had to fire 25 record shots, plus as many sighters as we wanted plus warm ups since a BR rifle doesn't perform at it's best with a cold barrel. It ends up being like a 50 round string. With my .223 700VSSF it was a breeze. I could fire a hundred rounds of that and not even feel it, but with the 6.5 BR, I started to feel it at about 50 rounds. I can't imagine getting hammered by a .308 Win that many times.

And honestly, I don't really expect to sell it. I'd be amazed if someone wanted it. This is my rifle, there are no others like it, and this one is mine, literally custom built, custom chambered for me, and custom hand loaded ammo with custom formed brass that you have to make from a different caliber case.

I loved it too. Especially when my friends wanted to try it out. When I was young I could fire 15 rounds out of the thing at the range and it wouldn't bother me besides some ruptured capillaries in my shoulder. A coworker went to the range with me and he was this huge biker guy, strong as an ox...the type of guy that could pick up one end of your car and hold it up for you cracking off color jokes while you changed the tire. He fired one round out it and got up from the bench and said "I ain't touching that thing again." He was terrified of it was wasn't too proud to admit it. After little 5'6 145 lb me just fired ten rounds out of it. Ended up selling it though to finance the 6.5mm BR build.

It was really fun at the range though because when you fired it, dust would sift down from the ceiling and heads would pop up up and down the range to see what the hell just went off.

In my younger days, I had a 7mm Rem Mag for hunting. In Florida. Just a touch of overkill since the ballistics are close to a 300 Win Mag (IIRC). Now I've got a modified Mosin Nagant M44 with a 16" barrel, but if I end up hunting again, it will probably be with the 30-30 I got from Timbo.

 

Yeah a 30-30 is great brush gun for hunting here in Fl. I hunt with a .270 and with a Mossberg 500 with a rifled sabot slug barrel.
