So I might be making some headway on my backwards idle the goes up as the engine warms up. I was looking at IABVs and I had forgotten there was an electrical gizmo connected to it. So I figured, okay, lets see what happens if I unplug the sucker. Well, it kicked a check engine code and immediately dropped to about 900 RPM idle. Curiouser and curiousor. Fortunately, I still have my original valved that I kept since the new valve made squat difference when I replaced it a few years ago so I'mma put it back on and see what happens. If it does the same thing this one does, I may be looking for an ECU.

Been out of the loop for a while. Who's making decent AR-15 lowers (and A4 uppers, I guess, but I would probably want to eventually get a custom upper)?

 

Most stripped lowers should be fine. There are a lot of AR elitists poo-pooing the Anderson Arms units, but if you go far enough down the rabbit hole you'll find that they are fine. I think I've used more Spike's lowers than any other, primarily because they are local.

This is fortuitous timing, since I just ordered a 10.5" pistol kit from Palmetto State for $279 shipped...

 

Not quite fortuitous. It's more like wishful thinking-contingency-extortion. My sperm donor's spouse wants my mom's China Cabinet that has been in the family for four generations now and they don't have any kids, so it's either going to get sold at their estate sale or mine so I told her that being the case I'd just as soon hang on to it since Mom loved it so. I did however say that I could be incentivized to part with it in trade for a Benelli M3 12ga in good condition and a decent AR-15 carbine with an A4 flat top upper (both or no deal).

They will probably tell me to go eff myself, but neither one of them has once called, sent a sympathy card, or in any other way indicated that "Hey, sorry your mom died. How are you holding up?" even when she texted me to ask for the China Cabinet, so the subtext of my reply is, you ain't family to me (by their choice) so if you want something of mine, I better be getting something in return. If they agree, great. If not? No skin off my nose. At least then I know when it gets sold at my estate sale, the money will be going to St Jude's and/or the Shriner's children's hospital. And I find that appropriate since my Great Grandmother, the original owner of the piece, was a member of the Eastern Star, the ladies affiliate of the Shriners.

(Yes, I'm a little pissed off at them.)

 

BTW, who are the elitists not poo-pooing?

 

I enjoy my PSA. 900 rds through it so far and zero issues

 

I'm not sure other than the obvious Colt, LMT, KAC, etc.

 

Honestly, I'd like to get my hands on one of those HK 416s. Dunno if they ever offered them commercially, but I think they have a way better gas operation system, then the AR-15. But any decent AR would be fine by me.

 

Oh yea if you got the money and one is available, go for it. I just like my AR because it is accurate, reliable and will get the job done
