    You could probably drill a #30 hole through the head bolt and safety wire them with .032 stainless wire, but I haven't found that necessary as long as you use locktite.

    Cotter pins wouldn't work on the outboard bolts since they thread into blind holes (meaning they don't go all the way through). Might work on the inboard sides with 35mm long bolts.

    for you guys that also have a t4r, I was inspired by this thread, so probably going to put some FRS seats in mine soon. Something more comfortable than the stock ones.

    I thought mine were pretty darn comfortable. Way better than the bench in the OGT. Keep us posted on the FRS swap though, as I am looking for options for the OGT. Don't want anything power though. It'll just get fried when I end up with and few inches of water in the floor boards. :eek: o_O

    On a side note...I pulled the trigger on Natty's new tires and wheels.

    For now they will stay where they are. The new ones will move to her when the OGT gets her 35s, which Interco is saying will be out some time in mid june. After that, I'll probably run them on the OGT until I can make the necessary adjustments to clear the 35s. after that, if the Nittos haven't started to rot, I might consider unloading them cheap.

    Got a tow dolly hooked up to the wife’s 4Runner so we can go possibly pick up a really clean 97 3rd gen. Guy is asking 2250 obo and possibly will need a new 3.4 since 3 cylinders are at 90 psi. It overheated and they did a head job. Place that did the head job told him it then needed a ring job. I’ve already sourced a newer engine for 750.


    So if I can get this 4Runner tomorrow I’ll have a project.

    40s were ordered Friday

    Gotcha. I was kinda planning on hanging on to the wheels to wait for someone to be getting rid of some 35" ATs for 16 inch wheels so I could slap them on the OGT for those out of state trips to save wear on my Swampers.

    Drove mine up to Northern VA. 17hrs of seat time and I had no complaints...well, I did have one, I'm short so I have to have the seat up pretty far and the top of the console is just a little too far back for a decent armrest. The bench seat on the Taco though has a fold down arm rest that's perfect. If they made a bucket seat like the old skool domestic trucks (80s and 90s vintage) that had fold down armrests attached to the seat back, those are the ones I'd get, but I'm not aware of any vehicles that have seats like that which would fit in my Taco or T4R. If you run across some let me know, because if I ever put a crawl box in the OGT the bench seat's gonna have to go. I've also considered having the bench seat back installed on a bucket seat bottom, which would free up floor space for the shifter while allowing me to keep the armrest. Not sure it would work though.

    After getting back to camp and researching it, we saw it was an issue. We were able to run into town and get a new ball joint and then to the hardware store for the bolts you described. He got one of the broken bolts out and threw three back in to get him off the mountain. It was pretty sketchy coming down with no brakes so we eventually put Frank's truck behind Dom's with a strap, and frank eased Dom down the mountain with his brakes. It was a recovery effort for the books.

    Edit: I forgot about the cracked wheel too when the ball joint bolts failed

    It's official...the OGT is now an open/open has been. She ain't happy about it either. She bit me twice while I was trying to get that open diff third member in there. We had a little row.
