For those of y'all that's been following along with the OGT's Evil-lution, the engine is all back together, the new steering rack is in place, tomorrow, should be installing the new front diff...and just like that I'll be back on very familiar ground. I'm getting excited to see her sitting on 36s, but there's quite a few outstanding upgrades on deck waiting to be done.

Shit load of VP done today. Barring something catastrophic, it should be sitting on all four 36s tomorrow.

Would have kept motoring on it, but I have an appointment this afternoon.

Oh, and while I was at it, I replaced and lengthened the diff breather hose. It now resides right next to the brake MC.

Anyone have a good spot in Orlando they can recommend for tire installation. I have spacers on my wheels(I know all about how I shouldn’t use them) and already have tires but am looking for a good place to get them installed.

She's on 36s and everything clears for the pavement, but I think I'm going to have to hammer the pinchweld area in. I looks like it'll rub if I stuff the tire.

No more rod knock either. :yay:

Weird part is, other than I now have to step up further to get in, visually, she looks the same as she always has to me. I expected a much more dramatic effect going up 3" of tire. :notsure:

The rest of the pics are in my build thread.

I don't have one myself but I know TECO offers those Zap Caps to protect against surges. I've been meaning to look into a whole home protector, never moved forward with it.

FPL wants 10 bucks a month but for 120 bucks and 3 wires I think I can handle the install.

Indeed, the continual cost just isn't worth it getting it from the power companies. I don't have one, my parents do, just want decent house surge protection...might do like what you're doing.

Seems like the lightning is getting more frequent lately, almost non-stop, in some of these storms.

You guys don't know nothin'. Why back in my day, we'd get hit by lighting at least twice when our parents sent us down to the mail box. Said it tuffin'd us up.:rasta: No wonder my generation smoked so much pot and snorted so much coke.

Ironically, I only tried pot once earlier in my 40s (didn't like the high), and I've never tried coke (besides the legal kind you drink)...yet I'm still a goofball. Go figure.

You know you've been working on your truck too much when you go to take the trash out and open the lid on the trash can and instead of the foul smell of garbage, you're greeted with the foul smell of gear lube. Couldn't they make that shit minty fresh or something?

Those things are a scam. They are for power surges, will do nothing for lightning strike protection. Most lightning damage comes from TV/internet cables. Cable companies do a horrible job of grounding, if at all, and they never tie to existing service panel ground. Having 2 different grounds at different potentials is a recipe for disaster. Also, make sure your service panel ground rod bonds are secure. The most effective way to prevent damage is putting polyphasers on incoming TV/internet coax. Even if it's buried....

The OGT is almost finished. The drive train lift is complete. The new exhaust is installed, although I'm not really happy with it. It doesn't sound nearly as good as the T4R. I don't know if it's just the longer exhaust system or the difference between a Flowmaster 50 series or the Super 50 series but I'm just not thrilled with the sound.

Anyway, there's four more things to do and then I'm done modifying her. I need to get the winch installed, the front bumper reengineered for the 2" BL and the winch, the traction bar installed and finally build an HC rear bumper. After that, I'm just shifting into maintenance and repair mode...which has already got an item on the list since the driver's side axle seal on my brand new diff is leaking like a sieve. :frusty: I think I might have one for it though, since when the passenger side was leaking, I ordered one from Marlin and it wasn't even close to fitting, so I'm hoping they just sent me the seal for the driver's side by mistake.

Looks good mate. It's currently not able to be driven right? I could've sworn I seen a truck looking like this driving up Columbus/Armenia here in Tampa every so often. Either way, looks good, keep us updated!
